392 or Blue Streak?

Looking at getting one of these classics but, I keep waffling on which one? I like the punching power of the Benji, but I like the uniqueness of the 'Dan. Help me make up my mind. My birthday is coming this month and I figure I'll treat myself to one of them.
I know the .22 cal pellets are more available in many different brands than the .20 cal. I know that they are basically the same in fps ratings. What say ye?

First, welcome to the forum. I have both models and it's a tough choice. My Sheridan is more accurate than the 392 but I can't say why. If money is a concern for you then I would buy the 392 because pellets are cheaper and easier to find. Benjamin .20 pellets for the Sheridan are $13 vs $7 for CPHP .22 for the Benjamin, Walmart prices. You may need to order the .20 pellets but you can buy the .22 off the shelf at most Walmarts. Both deliver a good punch but there is something special about the Sheridan. You can see why I had to have both. Sorry, I guess I didn't help much with your decision. Good luck and enjoy whatever you buy.

New or used? If new, it's a toss-up since both are basically the same gun. Get a Big Ed's supersear or equivalent to improve the trigger. If older, than a pre-72 Sheridan Blue or Silver Streak. Good power and very nice stock trigger. One thing about the new guns and that is they will take a nice little Williams peep sight for about $25. The older Streaks had to be factory-tapped as an option, although you could have it done. WalMart has 392's for $140 now.

I don't know about .22 being easier and cheaper to get than .20 when it comes to these pumpers. My 392 hates locally available CPHP's and requires RWS and JSB pellets. If ya gotta order .22, ya might as well order .20
If you're only considering a new rifle, either one will work just fine as they are basically the same gun with different barrels. There's several easy mods that can be done to these rifles to really make them shine. I really like my 392 and spent time home tuning it to bring out it's best (at least as much of its best as I can), but since I got my vintage Sheridan (1965 model) I find I'm shooting it a lot more than my 392. The old school Blue Streak (made in Racine, Wisconsin) is a much nicer gun than the current production model. Maybe it's just because I like old stuff.

The sheridan is going to be more accurate because it is flatter shooting than the .22. As per FPE, the .20 caliber is just as strong as the cp premiers as they both weight the same. The benji will allow you to use heavier pellets so that might be a plus, but the sheridan will shoot flatter if you use lighter .20. I would stick to the sheridan... and if you can find a silverstreak, better.

Good point on the price of ammo. I don't shoot my 392 much but my older Sheridans seem to do OK (informal shooting) with the Benjamin pellets. Yrrah over on the Yellow, and a lot of others, say that the .20 JSB's do best in these.

if you don't mind buying a refurb, go here to buy. about 50-60 bucks cheaper, that could be 7-8 tins of pellets from PA if you played your cards right. Aint that right Paul?
