Same Issue 2 Trails In A Row!!

My first Ben. TR. AW suffered from a split forward barrel screw.
Crosman took it back, sent me a new one & even a whole mess of pellets to re-break it in.
This Trail is about 2 yrs old & upon tightening one of the forward barrel screws, it kept turning - it had split again.
Fed up, I took it apart & drilled out the stub but instead of using the screw extractor, the stub went into the housing.
A few hammer taps with a steel rod on the pin near the hinge let the screw piece fall out.
You can clearly see in the photo the grooves (scratches) in the barrel from the "kick" movement within the stock that likely contributes to the shattered screw?
I have no idea where the little metal piece came from, the one that's flat on one side & welded to the curved on the other.
Also, what is the name & size / length of the screws (3) that hold the barrel assembly secure to the stock - I'd like to get Stainless.
Now that the gun's apart from the stock, any suggestions on tweaks or special cleaning that I can take advantage of?
Thanks!!!!

That piece that fell out goes in the stock over the screw hole at the rear by the trigger. Sort of a brace or support piece for the rear bolt that screws into the other bolt in the tube. Sorry for your bad luck with the Trail. I'd have sent it back again with that issue twice in a row. Crosman might even upgrade you on it. They have great customer service.

Scott - it does not appear you split your screw, you sheared it!! I don't know what material best resists shearing. It may be stainless and it may not. I can tell you it's a metric screw. I switched mine to Allen head screws. They take a 3 mm Allen wrench.
The additional piece goes at the rear of the stock around the stud for the screw passing through the trigger guard. I think it provides extra support between the gun and the stock. I swapped an Allen screw in back there, too. It takes a 4mm Allen wrench.

might not be as pretty as stainless, but, if it were me, i'd go with grade 8 or 10 allens and some blue loc-tite. and, back off the wheaties. looks like you got a little ham-fisted there.

I think the Far East screws may be lacking in performance.
