How to put a Picatinny rail on a B 19?

not sure where to post this...
recommended way to mount a scope to a b19 with high recoil is a 6 bolt one piece BKL ~$60 delivered, from PA
I also need a scope for this hand held implement of tin can destruction....
I would "like" to have the modern Picatinny locking place mounting system rather than the pre WWII dove tails...
I have an extremely limited budget of as cheap as functionally possible......-20%
the local wally world has a bolt on 4 bolt pica rail for $10..
I have access to a drill press and various drills, taps, measuring devices and various goops and glues...
so my proposal is:
drill and tap the top of the compression tube to bolt the Pica Rail on, then scrub the metal to metal faces with 80grit and bed the thing down firmly in JB Weld...
I believe a I can jig to locate and align the rail within .005" of the centerline per foot...
I realize the rifle will need to be disassembled for this work and will need to be internally deburred around the new screw holes...I have the tools and supplies to do this...
Whatcha think about that Idea?

If you want a true Picatinny rail, I don't think you'll find one at Walmart. If you want the Weaver adaptation you may get that.
Depending on the age of your B19 you could just invest in a new compression tube with the rail already attached. My Nitro Venom has one, I think it's soldered on. Crosman has the rail on other models as well. Alternatively you could add a stop screw to the less expensive adapter and mount it normally or with JB Weld.
A B19 is not a magnum airgun. Unless you just want the look I think a stop pin and a decent one piece mount will keep the scope stationary.

Most likely the compression tube is quite thin, allowing for about one complete thread turn for the bolts. That's not going to provide much support from the bolts. The other attachment method will make or break your install. Soldering will soften and also may distort the tube. You may want to heat the whole tube some, rather than only heating the attachment point. Just my 2 ¢'s.

Chuck,
If you can get it on there we can braise it on, I have a map gas torch and some small braising rod, then we can use a little blue Touch-up ...

One problem your going to find is that most of the weaver style rails are aluminum and the tube is steel. You will have to look for a mount that is steel to braise it on, a hard silver solder also works. I would replace the whole compression tube. I bought a new Tail tube for the rail and swapped out my Regal, I hate dovetail mounts. I have several mounts for a couple different model guns (Savage, Rem 700, Browning, Mauser ) that I can check and see if any are close to the shape of the tube if you want.

Your best bet for sure (especially with a limited budget) would be to just get a dovetail to weaver adapter with scope stop (like Hawke) and call it a day. Would work just as fine and save some potential grief..
