BT65 Elite Chrony String....VERY HAPPY
«

I finally had an opportunity to do some Chrony work with the BT65 Elite. The gun is stock, with Wolf LDC, no other mods at all. I was shooting on my back deck, 1047 ft altitude, 85 degrees. Starting at 200 Bar (gun pressure gauge) and ending at 145 Bar. After 10 shots the pressure was at 175 Bar, after 15 shots at 155 Bar, and after 20 shots 145 Bar.
All 20 shots with H&N Baracuda 21.14 pellets:
1. 987 200 BAR
2. 1001
3. 1003
4. 1000
5. 1000
6. 1021
7. 1020
8. 1031
9. 1041
10. 1019 175 BAR
11. 1022
12. 1024
13. 1020
14. 1027
15. 1011 155 BAR
16. 1008
17. 1000
18. 1000
19. 996
20. 986 145 BAR
Low 986 45.62 fpe (FPE calculated by Chairgun Pro)
High 1041 50.85 fpe
Average 1011 47.97 fpe
I haven't shot for accuracy yet, that will be next, but the gun really seems to like the H&N Baracuda pellets. Looks like a keeper...

Pretty good shot string. From what I've been told the thing you really want on a good string is the extreme spread to be low. On my Hatsan rifle I've found the best starting to pressure to shoot at begins at 2700 psi and ends at 2100.
I would rechrony yours and see if that 1041 was an unusual spike. Shot 4-18 seems to be a good spot, if the 1041 wasn't on there your ES would only be 3%, with it it's at 3.9%.

I would shoot a tin thru it , and let it settle in, then chrono it and see what you get. then tune the gun for ES and shoot count depending on what you are going to use it for. My AT44_12 is tuned for 15 shots with a es of 12. I hunt only so that is plenty for me considering one shot one kill. I also tuned it for 200 bar so I can go right to that point. I could even take more shots if I want without loosing any POI change.

Thanks Guys, good advice. Baxter, I will primarily be hunting with my BT65 as well, so could just get away with shooting the sweet spot of the string. Most of my shots will be 50 yards or less so if I sight in at the average fps I should have around 15 shots within around 3% ES which doesn't seem too bad. The gun is still new, so over the course of a tin of pellets it may change a bit. Now if it will just hit what I aim at...
will do some accuracy shooting this coming weekend. Bushy tail season starts on the 15th so I only have a couple weeks to get things in order.

Holy jebus, man. a .22 is putting out 50 FPE? This is one of the things I'm worried about - I'm reeeeally considering getting a Hatsan (probably AT-44 long though) and am gonna have to put some time into it to get the ammo into controllable territory.
Impressive, though.

Yes, the BT65 is truly a beast, but it will make you work for all the power if you take it in the field. It comes in at about 11.5 lbs with a light weight scope. I am sure the gun can be de-tuned somewhat for more shot count and less power, but I primarily use it for hunting so like it where it is. There is plenty of small game in my hunting area but also yotes and pigs in abundance.
I think the AT44 Long is a great choice if you don't require quite the power (and weight) of the BT65, and the AT44 can be tuned to approach this power if you need it.

Yes they are beasts. Bone stock, getting mine as refurb for $486, from Hatsan (thru Ricks site, airgunprosales.com)
who thru in all the orginal stuff plus an extra free clip and a tin of pellets,.
What you can expect. I have a refurb Elite about 2 weeks old. However the only thing that was not new was the case and the stock.
Crony starting from 185 bar down to 90 bar 27 shots with 1 grain lighter pellet then yours, elevation 463 ft humidity 85% 3pm.
Average 1050fps, average fpe 48.73 . First 5 shots at 25 yards shots 43-47 in the barrels life, see photo. Best 5 from scope zeroing in at 25 yards.
Oops sorry, mine is .25. Hope your action is not as stiff and clunky as mine. I reach over the bed as the rifle was in a case, I could not open up the bolt to the back lock position without holding the butt. Hense "Big Clunky".

Gator, which pellet were you using?
I have mostly shot JSB 18gn pellets and the 21 gn H&N's. Because I have three magazines, I considered shooting 20 H&N's leaving the gun at about 145 Bar and then switching the last magazine to the lighter JSB's and shoot down to 100 Bar, but I am not sure if the POI will be close enough yet. Plan to do some shooting this weekend to try some things out.
The cheap Wally World 17 grain Ruger pointed pellets did not do well, and anything in the 14 grain range seems to go supersonic with the gun's current settings.

Those Crickets are mighty appealing as well. The Eagle will have to fly a few more times before I can step up into that class, but they are on my radar...
