Self-serving show-n-tell post

Just a show-n-tell post, somthing to keep me on track in the off-hunting season.
Has been beat up, dropped, stock shattered, run on 12gr., run as co2 bulk fill, and run as a HiPac PCP. Personal tradition has it as always being the first gun taken out in squirrel season, even if I’ve got the “itch” to try newer toys.
Time for a clean up/tune up of an old rifle. A little finish work on the stock, repaint the trigger housing, a rework of the recoil pad (which shortened length of pull nicely), internal clean, o-ring change, and she’s probably good for another year.
Looks like, come October, will start another season with tradition.

Very nice. I just gave my 3 go to AG's a good cleaning and oiled them down real nice. My Disco is my first PCP and the first to be shot when I do something new.
Can't wait till hunting season starts.

After doing some work with my Prod, the shroud needs to be repainted. Some advice (surface preparation, paint, layers) would be really appreciated.

Are several ways. Degrease it, 0000 steel wool, degrease it again, and Kyron Fusion. 3 thin coats, with a day between coats, should end up with an even even hard coat by day 4 (even if the first coat seems thin and only covers 2/3 of the metal, it will work out by the 3rd coat on day 3).

That's a nice compact little shooter!
What kind of performance are you getting out of her? I'm not all about power as Accuracy is King...just curious.
I have a little 1740 carbine I run off carts or a HiPac and the numbers aren't high (mid 600's with 8gr) but it sure does stack ONE hole at 10 yards!
Keep up the good work by not letting that one fall by the wayside and become forgotten in your cabinet!

Inside of 4%, am getting 14-15 shots at 19.5 foot pounds using heavy weight .22's (21gr.). But with lighter pellets (15.9gr) it's more like 15 shots at 18.8 foot pounds.

That's fantastic!
I used a Prod hammer and Challenger RVA to tune my 1740 Carbine with...can't go wrong with $30 worth of parts from Crosman!

Yours is prettier than mine, it's getting pretty beat up after well over 100 Grouse now.... Interesting we settled on just about the same performance profile, I get 16 shots at 20 FPE with 18 gr. pellets.... Can't wait until September 10th.... *grin*....

Seems to be all the power that's needed for the job.
Will give the stock another day or two, then knock the shine off.

Got rid of some of the shine; still thinking about dulling it bit more.
Lost about 1” when the butt stock and too fat recoil pad got reworked, which shortened the length of pull. Still a little longer than a stock disco, but most rifles should be.
Which also required the scope to be moved forward that same 1”, which out both rings ahead of the loading port, but that’s not a problem.
Comparison for length (although the length of pull can also be seen). Disco is kind of short for me, but works out OK with a heavy coat.
