Hi everyone. I'm tired of break barrels and pumps. Having to cock with about 30 pounds of force or pumping multiple times is so noisy! Yes, many of you may be thinking "YES A NEE DARKSIDE MEMBER", but we all know it's not quite that easy to enter. Money, the main obstacle. So many of you may point me toward a disco, but my eyes like the carbine for its compaction and lightweight body. So my question is, how may I convert the crosman 2400kt custom shop gun from a co2 powered gun to be operable on hpa? I just want to know the mods I need to make hpa operable preferably through mods people have been successful with. Once I figure this build out, then I'll worry about looks and cosmetics.

Yes it can be done, but the MINIMUM useful reservoir size is the tube from a 2260 at 65cc (half the size of a Disco).... The 2240 and 2250 tubes are wayyyyyyyyyyy too small to give a useful shot count.... Alternately, you could use a HiPac....

How many shots can I  use out of the  65cc tube? What about the hipac? I looked up the hipac and it seems like a good way to go. What are your thoughts on a hipac? I have never used or build my own gun before so this will be a long learning process for me. Ease of  use of the tubes would be nice too

Never used a HiPac, but they have less air capacity than the same length 2260 reservoir would.... However, you can go back to CO2 easily....

Shot count will depend on how you tune, but half the shots you would get with a Disco, so about 12-16 shots @ 20-22 FPE using a 2260 tube....

Crosman.... You will also need a Disco valve, screws, fill fitting, hammer spring, and if you want to add a gauge, a gauge port (I recommend the PRod), gauge, and possibly a gauge adapter, and you will have to accurately drill the 2260 tube to mount the Disco valve.... Start adding up the costs and you may consider a PRod (see the post I just started below)....

If you are going to get a 2400 and turn it into a hpa airgun why not buy the disco? You will need the same equipment to fill a 2400 with hpa as any other pcp. After you figure cost of the 2400 and then mods to make it a usable pcp you will not be saving enough money imho to justify passing on a disco or other entry level pcp. If you just like to build stuff i can see where someone would build the 2400 up regardless of savings just to build one. If you are not that type of person i think you will be happier in the end going with an entry level pcp.

I'm well aware of the price of this whole project. However, i planned this as a project that will be spaced out over time. I'll start out with the gun itself using co2 cartridges and a Tko, then slowly add more mods and then cosmetics. Building and making sometring operable with my own hands is something I like to do.

or guys, what about a qb78/qb79 to hpa build instead? I find those guns are not that much bigger than a CCS carbine

Where would you recommend to buy a qb79? I know @#$%^ and flyingdragonairrifles sells....

Seems to be a steep learning curve with HiPac units.  Its not as easy as “plug-n-play”, there is going to be some head scratching to get them running well.


Aren’t many things the HiPac unit actually does BETTER than a PCP.  One of the few is to make a small pistol.  Just smaller than a 1701 to allow it to be a holster gun.  Won’t get a lot of shots from a 2240 HiPac (its only about 33cc’s) but can get decent power from a 10” .22 barrel for those few shots.




If you select components carefully with an eye to weight, can work out a small volume carbine based on a 2240 that comes out well under 5 pounds including scope and mounts.



Money wise?  Better off starting with an XS60C PCP with pump ($305) or a Discovery with pump ($400).  Think you could put together a simple 13CI HPA QB79 conversion, with pump, for about $390-$400.
