discovery problem

Ok I need some help,I went to sight in my scope on
my refurb disco and the breech/receiver was wiggling
all over ,barrel and all ,so I tightened down the screw at
the rear of the breech and it stopped the wiggle but now
I can't cycle the bolt... I've tried remounting it three times
but can't get it to eliminate the wiggle. I haven't tried the
Allen screw on the front yet(can't find my wrench... )
Any clue on how to fix it? take down necessary?
Could it be the stock needs sanding or something?
Or is it just to big of a scope ??
If I do take it apart do you have to degass it to disassemble
it from the stock?Really was hoping to get shooting...

There is a little screw under the bolt that holds the breech. If it is loose the bolt will catch on it. Be very careful with this screw it strips easily and can get lost Hope this helps

So its under the bolt. Here's another question
I tried to remove the bolt the other day by unscrewing
the handle and the rear breech screw and couldn't get it
out, there is like a screw sticking up inside(is that the screw your talking about?)
...to remove/tighten that do I have to take the stock
off?Does it have to be degassed first?
Thanks for the reply hope its a simple fix.
Also I am getting speckling on the barrel can I just spray a little rem oil on a cloth
and oil the spots or how can I slow that down?

it is the little screw that you can see when bolt is back There is a diagram in the library you might want to look at I am not totally sure how to get bolt out. And yes you can wipe metal with rem oil i use it or wd-40 every day.

Ok I found one to so I got the stock off the gun
and undid the rear breech screw unscrewed the bolt handle
but it won't come out because of the cocking pin part #20
I found this post by Bob :

You have to remove the end cap & the bolt handle to allow you to slide the bolt back enough.... I assume you are trying to get out the breech screw under the bolt?....To remove the end cap, you must remove the gun from the stock.... The first step is to remove the safety.... There is a hairpin spring that retains it riding in a small slot in the trigger guard.... You use a paper clip or jewellers screwdriver to move the spring forward, then push out the safety.... Then remove the single large phillips stock screw and slide the action from the stock.... Remove the rear trigger mounting screw and the back breech screw and the rear plug will pop out.... Then you unscrew the bolt handle from the bolt and you can slide the bolt out the rear.... Under the bolt is the tiny 4-48 breech screw.... Pushing down FIRMLY on the breech should relieve the pressure on it enough to allow you to get it out with a 0.050" allen key....

Yes you can remove the bolt without dumping the air, but you obviously must be careful....

In order to remove the bolt, you MUST remove the breech (with barrel) from the main tube as the cocking pin for the hammer is in the way.... The catch is, that in order to remove the breech, you must slide the bolt back first.... :shock:

To slide the bolt back far enough to gain access to that tiny screw under it, you must remove both the bolt handle AND THE REAR PLUG as I detailed in my previous post.... Only then can you slide the bolt back far enough to remove that screw, remove the breech, and finally be able to slide the bolt out the back.... :roll:

If I do what he says in the first post does it have to be degassed?Also I didn't take out the trigger screw because I didn't want anything to happen is he talking about the little plug behind the bolt or the big tube plug little right?so I'm trying to get the bolt back far enough and can't I have the gun down to just above the red 100-600psi? by bleeding it with my pump
should I just go all the way?will it with the pump bleed?

You don't have to have the pressure at zero to take off the breech to remove the bolt, hammer, or trigger assembly.... When you take out the rear breech screw you can remove the small plug behind the bolt, but the bolt still won't slide back far enough to access the screw under it because of the cocking pin in the hammer, which runs in a slot behind the bolt.... To slide the hammer back far enough to get the bolt back far enough to access that screw you have to remove the rear trigger screw and the large plug on the back of the main tube....

Do NOT remove the valve screws if there is any pressure in the reservoir....

On my AS2250XT this screw was just about 1/16" too long. When I tightened it the bolt would hang up. Just a tad loose and the bolt worked fine, but the breech was "loose". I realized the screw was actually going down just a tad too far and interfering with the hammer spring. Filed off 1/16" and now the breech is tight and the bolt is smooth as silk.

Once you find your wrench (.05mm IIRC), you probably want to use a clamp - like a small bar clamp - to snug the barrel/receiver to the air tube before tightening the screw.  This takes a lot of load off of that small, easily stripped screw.

When i first got my disco, i noticed that the striker/hammer was contacting the breech screw i filed down the end of the screw just a hair, and the problem was "Solvid"

part #27 which I did yesterday and it looks to have solved the problem.
Going to buy the Allen wrench to and tighten that also.

Glad it worked - I've not had my Disco apart, but figured the screw was likely the same between it and the 2250XT

Actually, i was talking about #29 as well , it was just a hair long and was catching on the hammer.
I highly suspect there may be some parts mixup going on with the 2260 and the Discovery because many things are similar except the little breech screw location.  (Also,, this may sound silly but it is possible,,, but make sure part number 20 is right side up)
