The Local Academy

The local Academy Sports in my area is a nice store, for the most part, until you get to the air rifle shelf.  It looks like they have had a lot of returns with boxes that have been opened, guns used and brought back.  The air rifle section is pretty much a mess.  I wouldn't buy one from them.  The local WalMart stores are neat in comparison.  They must handle their returns differently.  It looks like Academy just puts returns back on the shelf in the torn-up boxes.  Bad public relations for air gun enthusiasts.

Kim - Walmart may not put these returns back on the shelf.  They could go back to their distributor to be "refurbished".  They likely have a bit more "pull" than Academy Sports.

Rather than grousing on GTA, have you considered inquiring with the management at Academy Sports?  It could be a favor to them as they may have never considered the issue.

If you mail order a product and decide to return it the vendor usually demands the product in original condition in original packaging in good condition as well.  Academy may be playing to the customers to try to keep them coming back and not realizing they can be damaging future sales.

Thomas, thank you.  I will speak to the management of Academy.  The local Bass Pro has a problem, too.
