Booger,
the R1 is slightly bigger and heavier than an R9, but so is an Air Hawk. This R1 had a short barrel, like an R9, cocking effort was not bad if two hands were used. Shot cycle was smooth and nice, with some spring noise.
On a very windy day, accuracy at 19 yards, using .22 JSB 18.1s, was as good as my .177 HW 100 using JSB 10.34s. The R1 did better than the .22 TX200, using JSB 18.1s, and better than my HW 77K using CPHPs. If JSB 10.34s had been used in the 77K it probably would have matched the R1.
54 yards was too far in this wind, for the springers, the HW 100 PCP beat them easily. The .22s needed a lot more hold over than the .177s, so there was more time for the wind to drift the .22s.
HW 80s have a longer barrel than R9s, so the pellet remains in the barrel for more time and so the 80 might be more hold sensitive. It should be easier to cock, too.
There are a couple of local air rifle shooters who have used Benjamin Trail rifles that have been extremely accurate and fun to shoot.

I have a Benjamin Trial NP All Weather Stock in .22. This gun stacks pellet on pellet at 20 yards with CPHP 14.3 grain no problem. That is until the bundled scope broke. However it still works on 9x and I still pack pellet on pellet. Back to the gun. The break barrel is buttery smooth and seals well. I have yet to get a chrony so pellet consistency is unknown speed and FPE goes to me at least. All in all it is a great rifle, a little front heavy due to the bull barrel for my tastes but off of a bench no problem and is a joy to shoot. All in all it's up to you. Take care and let me know which one you choose and how it goes!
