2240 & 1322 carbines

 I made carbines out of my pistols from parts bought mostly on classifieds.  The 1322 was made from a 2260 stock and the 2240 from a DIY 342 stock.  Barrels are Crosman 2289 parts.  Right now the 2240 gets 548 fps (14.3g) with stock valve that has a few threads cut off inside for more volume.  The 1322, with the same pellet, gets 605fps at 14 pumps with a flat top piston and valve, adjusted for no excess head space.  I will put a custom valve in the 2240 for more FPS, but would like to know if anyone is getting at least 600fps on fewer pumps in a 1322 flat top valve set up.

very nice.  i have a 2400kt that i have looked for a wooden/synthetic stock for.  i dont like the plastic carbine stock that came with it

Well my 2289 (same gun as 1322, just comes as carbine) gets about 693FPS average at 12 pumps (never chronied at 10 pumps).  Though I did a lot of mods, and I am using the stock cup piston stuffed to stiffen it (this has been shown to often get better results than flat top, and it costs a lot less), and I have a 18 inch barrel.

Quick (incomplete) rundown of notable power mods on my 2289:

• Stuffed piston to stiffen.
• Shaved valve nose 40 thousandths.
• Shimmed cup with Washer, and outer O-Ring.
• Wrapped teflon tape around area betwee valve O-Ring and Valve face.
• Weakened valve spring.
• Bored and angled valve exaust port.
• Installed a 1/8th inch rod in check seal to fill most of valve inlet hole.
• Stronger hammer spring.
• Bored Transfer port, and add top side O-Ring.
• Installed longer barrel (18 inch) cut from a 24 inch barrel, and crowned with a 11 degree target crown.

As stated that list is incomplete, though it should give you an idea of what to expect.

 Thanks for the replies. I thought the fps was a little low for 14 pumps but its only a 14.5'' barrel.  It has a ice maker tube port, so I may check it to see if its crushed too much when I tightened the breech.   Thanks for any ideas.   Van

Did you fill the head space between the valve O-Ring and valve face, as well as the head space between your FT pistons O-Ring and the head of the FT?   Als did you reduce the space in the inlet port?   If not then you are doing pretty good where you are sitting.

  Thanks DavidS will try those mods when I get a chance.  I want to keep the 14'' barrel because of the TKO length so I want to try other things than a longer barrel.

What trigger assby are you using, 2260?

 The triggers are 2260 I found on classifieds.  I saw the 2260 stock on a 13xx a few years ago on a forum and began finding parts wherever I could.  The 2260 conversion was easy once you cut the pump arm from the front of the stock and drill the pin holes.  The  342 stock had to be enlarged for the trigger pack. used a Dremel and some carving tools.  These are light weight guns and a lot of fun to use.  The brass triggers are from Bryan & Associates.
