cmp used 853 how to tell how old post serial numbers?

Your best bet is to submit an email to Daisy at info@daisy.com requesting the meaning of your serial number.  It seams as though Daisy has changed the format somewhat over the years.  MY '84 953 has serial # 4Jxxxxx.  If you can't get the info from Daisy, try contacting the Daisy Museum.  They should be more than happy to explain the coding of current serial numbers.  When you get the info, maybe you could post and explain it to the rest of us.  I'll be ordering a CMP 853 sometime in the future and sure would appreciate it.

I'm also interested.  Moreover, I'm interested in the difference, if any, between a Daisy Avanti 853 and a Daisy Power Line (two words) 853.
