As I've posted before I was looking into getting a disco or a marauder pistol but i've still been hesitant about getting either because I don't like being tethered to an air source. So, naturally, I looked into the 1322/77 and the 2289, I like pumpers for their flexibility but I'm not quite sure which to go with insofar as their actual power and such. I know they can be modded to get comparable power to the 392 with many more pumps of course, but I'm just shopping for opinions on the matter...I'm open to suggestions and comments..

i chose the DBO/2289 . much more comfortable pump handle and comes with the shoulder stock .a pair of p-rod pistol grips with screws can be ordered from crosman for about $10 including unlimited $4 S&H if you want the option to not use it as a carbine .
BEWARE !!!! i've found the mod bug bites hard on these !

I've got the DBO 2289 and a 1377. Both with flat top piston and valve. Also steel breach on the 2289 stock barrel. The 2289 with 12" barrel is more comfortable on the hand to pump and I took the quick release pin off the back for more comfort and screwed the shoulder stock on with grip screws. At 10 pumps the 2289 gets 530 fps using 14.3 gr crosman hollow points. I haven't shot over the chrony with more than 10 pumps but with 15 pumps at 10 yds it will put that same pellet thru two tin cans and thru one side of a third. IMO that is pretty good for power.

Will the 2289 hold more pumps than 12 with the stock setup? I see where some folks pump it 20+ times and get near 392 energies...I ask because it seems dangerous unless the air tube is just THAT strong.

The air tube is .75 od and .065 wall, so yeah pretty stout.
The valve is where the air is stored and it's stout as well.

After getting the DoomsdayBugOutKit 2289g, I ordered a 2400KT with 18" barrel. I keep them both ready to go next to my window that overlooks my bird feeder. Both have taken many English Starlings that raid my feeder. I don't use my old 1377 much these days. I vote 2289 carbine.

Both of mine gave an average of 482FPS with CPHP on 10 pumps for one, and 476FPS with CPHP with the other, before I did anything to them. So about 7.2FPE.
And the wear pretty accurate out of box + steel breech.
The only problem with the 2289 is it costs $100 ($65 for the gun and $35 for the steel breech).
Though I would recommend it to any one looking for a .22 AirGun.
I have posted details about my modifications to these guns in other threads, though put simply they are both over 11FPE and the modifications cost less than $25 total, and both can deliver over 14FPE with a reasonable number of pumps.

Hopefully a shameless plug of my 1322 build could help with your decision making.
I love the carbine look.

That looks pretty sweet, how did you adapt that stock? I assume it belongs on a tippmann. how do those muzzle brakes work for you? I like the idea of keeping it a bit quieter but just wonder if they will affect accuracy any.
