Wanted to put a red dot on my Crosman MKII and didn't want pay to have the receiver grooved or buy one of those clamp on scope mounts for a high price. So this is what I came up with.
I had an aluminum scope base that had been laying in my parts for at least 35 years. To fit the receiver I just wrapped Emory cloth around the right size deep well socket and sanded until it fit the conture of the pistol. It was already made to fit the receiver of a high powered rifle. I then cut it to length on a radial arm saw and set the saw height so I could cut groves for the Weaver style mount built into the red dot.
To hold it in place I removed the screw that holds the barrel in place. I cut the new Allen headed set screw to the proper length and drilled and counter sunk the base so it would clear the scope. You also have to have the screw the right length to keep the barrel in place plus clamp the base down both together. It's held on with the one screw and it is tight. It's been on for years and works great and looks like it was made for it.
I also made a knurled cocking know out of 6061. I now see that some one is offering them for sale.
Picked this working Crosman MKII up for all of $15.00 a few years ago.
