Ribbonstone, please tell me about your HiPAC QB78

I saw your post in response to the QB78 with HPA in which you have a line up of your QB's... on the far right is one with what looks like a HiPAC setup.  What can you tell me about that?  There's a chance I MIGHT be able to get my grubby paws on a QB down here, but HPA setups are not easy to come by here.  Everything is ridiculously priced, to say the least (was quoted at about $450 for an AR2078B, for example) so am looking at ways to get into PCP in a more affordable manner.  Anyway, all blathering aside, I'd forgotten about the HiPAC option for QB's and would like to know about your experience with it.

One on the far right is a .25 PCP built on an old Compasseco  (now out of the airgun biz) PCP tube with an LW barrel.  If you crank that one up, will manage right at 60 foot pounds for a few shots, but normally I keep it set at 50 foot pounds for 10 shots.




The HiPac version is the short little  .177 carbine in the C1 type walnut stock.  This one I tuned to 12 foot pounds as it is my favorite pest-bird.zapper.



For myown reasons, I only run the HPA guns with regulated 13ci tanks at 800-850 PSI, so the energy is in the 11-15 foot pound range, which is enough for the hunting/shooting I do.  But the shot count is AT LEAST +100 (although the 2nd from the left manages 180 shots @ 10 foot pounds and is a favorite rat-shooter).

Might find some posts with a search on the HiPac converted QB.  It’s not that the gun cannot make power, but that the HiPac unit is very limited in air volume.  So you can get big power, but you cant get big power with a decent shot count.

Thanks!  Now that you mention it, two things come to mind. 

1.  I remember (now) you writing about your Compasseco.
2.  It obviously doesn't have the HiPAC knob right after the stock that the HiPAC one does. 

DUH!  :-D  I need to pay more attention. 

Do you know if the HiPAC allows for extensions?  It looks like there's a few inches between the end of the HiPAC and the end of the barrel is why I ask.  That should give a couple extra shots.  If I DO go the QB route down here I'll probably be ahead to go with the regulated bottle, it's just that the HPA and HiPAC are so much trimmer, neater, more "real" rifle looking, classic lines and all that.  (sigh)

Have to ask Alex (HiPac) to see if the extensions work on the QB or not.  I personally like the small air volume, which does make for shot shot counts but also for very short refill sessions. Also realize that every extra joint is one more potential leak source.
