Extended Barrel For Crosman Vigilante/357

I'm looking to make a Crosman revolver with an extended barrel.  Since I don't have a lethe or anything, I was wondering if there was any other guns that had a barrel with a similar OD, prefferablyy in .177.  My plan was to drill out the existing holes in the Crosman outer barrel to fit the new barrel.  I tried this one, with a much larger barrel, with not much luck.  I'm hoping to find a smaller barrel.  Any suggestions?

I have a 4", and a 6" Crosman 357 barrel for my Vigilante, as well as the stock barrel. Easy to swap out with the removal of one screw. I got them from Crosman for about $10 each. Is that what you want to do?

Well, 6" is the standard, so I was hoping to go 7"-10"

I tried to order an 8", but Crosman said it was discontinued. Looks like you will have to do some sort of modding to get a longer barrel.

I'm thinking the barrel from a 2100 might work to mod...I'll tear into mine and see as soon as I'm feeling better:/

I was toying with the idea of putting my 6" barrel in my 4"shroud so I could attach a TKO. I may try that sometime. Something to do when I get bored lol.

I took the 20" barrel from my AM77/2100 and it FITS on the Vigilante!!! It will need some modifications though.

After messing with it a little, i realized my initial concerns were correct...the more length on the barrel, the more unstable the union becomes, which makes accuracy go out the window. In order to use a longer barrel you will need to somehow stabilize the grip frame and the outer barrel.

i know a couple people that put 1377 barrels in their 357's it can and has been done

Yeah, I had problems with the connection too.  Thinking maybe tightening the bolt that connects the two.

Ya, there is just to much side to side play. Getting the barrel to fit was actually pretty easy, just drilled a 5/16 hole in the outer barrel shroud(muzzle end). I'm thinking of maybe beefing up the connection with some type of plates or rigging up some stabilizer bars.

the 2100 barrel has a transfer port hole in it that you would have to cut off at the least, it's part number 766C101 from Crosman and is $8.25 plus shipping (I just ordered one to see if it fit a project I was working on), the barrels for the Powermaster 66 are very similar but don't have the transfer port in them (they are the same length, just have some knurling at the breech end) and are part number 66-036 and are $8.22 but they don't keep many in stock (took me 2 months to get one... don't know if it was that or the Marauder clips that held everything back...)

I had just ordered them so they were handy , did some mods to a Crosman Recruit to make it into an adult rifle (rifled barrel and flat top piston valve)
