Question about HDD for 2240

I was browsing the internet and found a forum talking about Hammer Debounce Devices, it appears to be some sort of plastic sleeve that fits between the bolt and the cocking pin. I'm not really sure what it does some people claim it increases shot count. Also is there a DIY solution $35 seems a bit much for what it appears to be?

I you are talking of the AoA debouncer, then yep, pretty much the only game in town. I have tried my hand at a better mousetrap, to no avail. Just when I thought I had it, I really didn't. A few other people have come up with similar devices, but they are no where to be found and did not get very positive feedback. The only other thing I have heard about is to add a couple of o-rings on the back side of the valve to absorb the hammer hit. Never heard much factual reporting back on just how effective it is.....If there are chorny shot string results I would like to see them.
I used the AoA HDD and got very good results for about 500 rounds and then it cracked on me. How many rounds was on it when I got it I don't know as it came in a 2240 I bought 2nd hand. It will quiet down the twang effect as well. Others have claimed many many more shots and still others far fewer. One trick is to keep it oiled.
One thing the designer did say, was that it was designed for a stock hammer/spring set up and would not last is given abuse of over powered springs and heavy hammers.
Hoped that helped and not hurt. I am sure someone will chime in that has a lot more experience with it.

the orings are called the bstaley modification. seach different forums and you'll find it. it is legit, i believe he came up with it messing around with a different gun. a nice balance can also be achieved by using the challenger hammer and striker and the end cap for the prod. a hole needs to be drilled and tapped in the cap where the breech screw goes through because the prod doesn't use a centered bolt. using this endcap allows for the internal adjustments to be made without diaassembly.the idea is to get a balance between the striking force and the resistance of the valve spring. alot more room for adjustment than by just using a power adjuster as the power adjuster can't change the throw, where as the challenger set-up can. while not technically a debouncer, good adjustments with this system can get you a quieter and more efficient pistol than stock for sure.
hope this helps alittle
peace

The best place for those little plastic bits is in the trash.

They may work for a while, but they're not worth the money or effort. In fact, the vendor offers no after sale support for
any
of the aftermarket pieces offered on their site. If you have a problem, and you will, you're on your own.
The BStaley mod is a much more reliable approach to increasing shot count and smoothing our your shot string.
