How hard is to change a barrel in the NP XL ?
«

I'm just about to send out my NP XL for a tune/kit but I'm wandering if I should wait and do a .25 barrel change at the same time as well.
of course if the barrel change is a piece of cake than I can do that myself once they come out.
Thanks

As long as you order ALL the part's Manny it is just taking out the pivot screw an working the cocking arm out of the spring slot in the action(really not hard) then just reverse the work an it's right back together, take's me about 5 min's I'd guess? the biggest pain is just getting the breech block back to being lined up to place the screw back in as it's a tight fit an the cocking arm want's to come back out as you wiggle an press the block around to get it back in the slot.

Are the .25 cal barrels even available yet ? I thought Crosman didn't sell parts until long after that model had been out on the market
??
Unlike with my Gamo, which seems to be realy stuck in there, the XL's breach pivot bolt was loose. I had to remove it, clean the threads and locktite it in.
As Jay said, not much to getting them out, just be careful you don't twist the linkage at the cocking shoe. The slightest bend in that linkage and it may buckle when you cock the gun.

The problem I had was the pivot pin for the cocking linkage. Had to have it pressed out. It may have lock-tite on it....

No loctite, the end is flared once installed. Best to buy a new one when swapping barrels and pieces parts. I just ordered the cocking linkage and pin, as well as all attaching pieces. Built a complete barrel assembly in case I decided to swap back to the original caliber.

That would be the best way, just get the whole assembly. Then you have a quick change in the future......
