Cheek weld to stock versus artillery hold .

Having successfully mounted my scope to my RWS 34 classic using low mount rings, I find that I must raise my cheek up off the butt stock a little in order to see through my scope. Essentially, only my jawbone and chin touch the comb of the stock. As a man most familiar with powder burners, I know that I am at my best when a firm cheek-to-stock weld is held. I am thinking I need to make myself a lace-on leather cheek piece. Leather work is another hobby I enjoy. But before I undertake to make and fit one, would a cheekpiece prevent a correct artillery hold? Thanks. Don

A cheekpiece for eye/scope positioning is good, just can't cram your face against it, like you would with a powder burner

I have noticed that even w/the slightest bit of presure on my stock that my shots will go all over the place. and even with the distance of where i put my cheek at will move my groups.  it's such a love/hate thing for me.

+1.  Consistent cheek weld is essential for accuracy, just don't press in too much.
