Found a new Beeman RS2 on CL

Hello, I'm fairly new here. I was searching CL for a higher end springer and I saw an add for an RS2 brand new in the box for $50 so I picked it up today. I haven't had time to shoot it at paper yet but I shot 25 or so into a bucket of sand in my storage building (I live in town) to get the dieseling effect out of it's system. I hope to lap the barrel tonight and possibly shoot a group or two before work tomorrow. I'll post pics once I get some groups shot.

Hi Charlie,
you are probably aware of this guide, but in case you are not then here you go.
http://webpages.charter.net/rs_enterprises/guns/RSE%20Airguns%20-%20Beeman%20RS2%20trigger%20guide.pdf
I do seem to remember some of the more experienced members here have said that a couple of the area's described in the diagram were not necessary to polish, or something like that.
There are quite a few members here who are familiar with, and have tuned the RS2 into a very favorable shooter. Possibly they will see this thread and correct me, or offer their advise.
You can also do a search here on the forum for "RS2 Tuning" or "RS2 trigger" and see many past threads on the subject.
Worthy Of Note Here,...
If you are not experienced in trigger adjustment,... BE VERY CAREFUL !
incorrectly adjusted triggers on magnum springers will result in a VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION/Rifle, that can snap closed unexpectedly and cause serious injury to you.
A few guys have had fingers badly injured/chopped from poorly adjusted triggers.
LISTEN to what the more experienced guys here have to say about it.
It will save you from a trip to the Emergency Ward.

$50 is a good price, I wouldn't get too crazy with modifying it or doing work on it until you get to playing with it, I did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to my first RS2 other than putting some thread tape on the barrel lock screw (dual caliber version) and tightening the rest of the screws after about as many shots as you have through yours now and it's a tack driver, took a starling at 70 yards, I never cleaned the barrel, tuned it, touched the trigger adjustment, just put on the .177 barrel and started shooting
My second I set up as .22 and it's not quite as good but still not bad and good enough for me.

Thanks, I lapped the barrel last night and just got back in from shooting it at paper for the first time. I shot a 10 shot group with crosman premier domed pellets that measured just about an inch ctc with open sights. I think I'll keep shooting open sights for awhile to learn the trigger then install the supplied scope. I'll update later after a few more shots.
Thanks, Charlie
