NP/NPXL barrel shroud dampening?

I pulled the barrel shroud off my Trail NP today to take a look at the crown. All good there however i was wondering if loosely packing the inside of the shroud with wool or or cotton cloth would make it any quieter. Seems to me it would help dampen a bit instead of the pressure bouncing around the inside of a hollow shroud.

Just a though, let me know if i am being crazy.

Might change the harmonics, depending upon what you pack it with and how tight.  And, if things shift/compress over time, it might give you a wandering POI.  Same as moving a tuner on a barrel.

You might try steel cleaning pad(you know for dish's) or the filter out of the range exhaust over the stove,but I'd say you could be walking on the edge of it being legal if you know what I mean.

yeah the more i thought about it the more i realized its a form of suppressor if you modify it so i will just leave it be.
