QB79 just arrived! My new project.

The brown truck just delivered my new .177 cal. QB79 from Mike Melick. I was impressed with the velocities he listed on the box as this is a standard tune. RWS Superdome = 688 fps and Gamo Hunter = 701 fps. If I can get at least another 200-250 fps. out of this gun by adding HPA and doing some tuning I will be very happy. It was shipped immediately and arrived 2 days later. The stock was way better than I was expecting. The bolt isn't sloppy like my disco. You can't beat this deal. Period. The only thing I can complain about is a 1/2" long flat on the bottom of the barrel that is shiny from the bluing being worn off, probably from a vise. That is inconsequential and can be easily touched up. The quality is way better than I was expecting. It's not an RWS but it does have the form, fit, and function. A diamond in the rough. I would rather be the one to polish it and save the money while also learning more about tuning and making the gun fit my personal needs. Let the fun begin! I'm going to need some more 9 volts for the Chrony.

awesome man post up some pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when you get the hpa tank post up chrony numbers on an entire fill every shot record them all and im sure I and probably many others can tell you how to get more shots or go faster whichever you want.

I love mine. It's a very nice gun and kind of "organic", like it's still growing, if that makes sense. Not precise, but solid and reliable and STRONG. I'm very glad I had Mike tune mine too. I can't leave it alone. I'm making up excuses to shoot it.

"Gotta test this pellet. Gotta try it without the compensator. Gotta try a 'shot and a followup in less than 30 seconds'. Gotta practice shooting off my knee and out the window."

I'm like a kid. It's a LOT of fun to shoot. I hope you like yours as much as I like mine! I'm thinking you're going to be happy. Mine shot .22 Hobby's at 723 after Mike tuned it. I have no idea what I'm doing with JSB 14.35 domed exact expresses on HPA at 1100 psi. I'm happy with it regardless. I suspect, though that you'll be able to beat me handily fps wise.

I spent a few hours tuning my QB tonight. I disassembled everything but the valve assembly. This is a pretty easy gun to work on once you see how it works. I wish the Disco trigger was of this quality. I got my high flow bolt, replacement air seal, and HDD installed but had a problem with the 2 stage trigger kit. The thread pitch did not match my gun. The QB threads were much finer. I wonder if they revised the gun so the adjustment would be finer and more precise. I will be really disappointed if I can't do a 2 stage trigger mod. All I need now is for my HPA tank to arrive. It is supposed to be here by Monday. I am really pleased with this gun so far. It is built like a tank and screams out to be refined and tweaked.
