how often does an Mrod need any sort of cleaning?

and what are your favorite products? my scope is due to arrive to Mac1 tomorrow and the funds to buy the Mrod from him should be available any day now.

in the past i have only had springers, and never used one enough to really necessitate cleaning (besides on the externals of the 125 sniper while i had it, didn't want it to start rusting or anything)

so what sort of cleaning products should i get and how often often is there a necessity to use them?

I clean mine about every 400 pellets or so.  If accuracy drops off I will clean just in case.  I try running a clean nylon brush a couple of times then patches until clean then a mop.  If it is real dirty I run Goo Gone then brush, patches and mop.  I have noticed mine needs clean more often when I use Crosman or Benji pellets. 

I will repeat.  NYLON brush only, no brass or steel.

X3....expect I don't use any solvents like goo gone. I personally get worse accuracy when I use that stuff as opposed to just dry patches.

3 or 4 patches usually does it too!

All I can tell you is what Tim told me, DON'T use monofilament for cleaning the barrel. Buy a Crown Saver from him and some patches. After 500 rounds or so ( watch your accuracy) Run the crown saver through the barrel attach a patch or two, and use ONE or TWO drops of WD40 on the patch, pull it through !  Repeat process until patches come out clean (fairly clean). Now heres a little secret, (SHHHHHH don't tell anyone) Buy some stuff called Kryteck , and pull a couple of patches through with a little of this stuff on the patches,It prevents grit and grim build up and takes away any of the detrimental affects of the WD40 !      Then your good to go   ... Have fun !

Wow I would have not guessed that because in item 9 in Mrod owner's manual it says "Keep all petroleum-based lubricants away from the fill nipple.
They MUST NOT be introduced into the high pressure reservoir." & "WARNING : Use of petroleum-based lubricants in this area could result in an explosion
resulting in personal injury."  I was always under the impression using petroleum-based products on an airgun was bad.  Good to know.

Well if your going to use a flammable product to clean your barrel. You could turn your gun upside down. That should help keep the fluids out of the action of the gun? Just a thought. I had moment where peloil got in the action and BOOM !!!! when I pulled the trigger --- SCARY --- so wd40, umm? Yeah not me. Ever put I lighter to that stuff?
And Mac said no monofilment? I would love to hear how fishing line could do any damage to a barrel. As my mind would say " whatcha selling "  oh a crown saver? --I really am curious tho, edjamakate me please

I am just going on what the (gun) doctor told me in person, when he tuned my baby. I'm sure TimmyMac1 wouldn't mind explaining your concerns.You can find his web site/contact info on this forum.
Give him a ring !..............OH ....and no disrespect but,I doubt anyone would try to get rich selling a 4or 5 dollar crown saver, especially a guy who manufactures guns for a living
