The Cometa 400 Fenix Shines.

Literally. It really does,Now.
I was looking at my400 today and got the idea to put a shine on her. That matte finish wasn't doing anything for this Beech stock and I could see it had some potential.

So I called on three of friends to help me out.


Two hours later that dull finish was transformed.

Real Nice job Pete.  Never thought of using compound on a gun stock.  Did you take her apart to rub out the matte finish?    That is a shine to be proud of.

Do you care to say how the Cometa Fenix 400 shoots?  Does the muzzle break make it more silent than other springers?  I was considering the Cometa Fenix 400 Premier partly because of the look/rounded front sight/muzzle break.  Would anyone compare it to a Diana 34?  Does it have metal trigger and guard?

The Fenix 400 in .22 Shoots very nicely. It shoulders well and despite it 's size very well balanced and feels light.
All Cometa's are known for having a bit more of a report than others in it's class..say a RWS34...it's just the way they are. Trigger is very nice..No it isn't a Rekord..but nice after adjusted .Trigger guard is synthetic and the trigger blade too.
No biggie, it works well.
As for adjusting the trigger on these.... The trigger has only first stage and weight. You want to increase the first stage travel .A short one makes for a vague trigger and it will go off un-intentioned.
As I said increase the first stage length. As you go back more you will develop a more positive feel for the bump at the second stage. Depending on the feel you may want to increase the trigger weight a 1/4 to 1/2 turn. This will not significantly increase the pull but will give you a more pronounced second stage bump before  let off.
My personal choice would be .22 for Cometa's. They just seem to work better. JMO.
The Cometa's as a whole are easy to work on , very well made for the money although they do cost more now than when I made my purchase.
