what yardage to zero?

Greetings one and all,
I know how to set up a scope for a hunting rifle.
My question is at what yardage do you set your zero at for Field target type shooting?
I enjoy target shooting at 40 yards and down to 10 yards.
My new shooter not here yet will be AirArms TX200 MKIII .177.
TIA

If you hunt, or just like to plink at different distances, do an Internet search for 'point blank range' (PBR). You can also use Chairgun to figure this for you.
As an example, I have a carbine that is set so I can hit a 0.50" target from 11.9 yards to 26.2 yards by merely centering my sights on the target. The actual true zero of the gun is @20 yards. Fiddle with pellet weights, velocities and absolute zeros to find a solution for you guns. Flatter trajectories yield the widest PBR.

Nice info. Thanks for posting. Here is a link to a site for determining different zero points...
http://www.arld1.com/trajectorypbr2.html
Click on the 'OPBZ Math' link and fill in the blanks. You can choose your kill zone size, range etc. and the program will calculate
your optimum settings.

IME, 20 meters is a pretty good compromise for most airguns if your scope is fairly low because it gives you a good 10-30 meter region without worrying too much.
