opinions please. Thinking of buying a Ruger air magnum .22 & have shadow/Ed tune it down to about 800fps.Would this make a good hunting rifle? How is the triger, would it be less hold sensitive?who makes the Ruger air guns? The price of rifle + tune would be in my budget. Also looking at flying dragon have one tuned by Mike. Thanks!

Ruger airguns are made in China. It's a heavy rifle for carrying, so you want to consider that, and if you scope it etc. Why get a .22 and detune it? I'd see what it "actually" shoots like, break it in, find it's best pellet, and decide if it's not what you want. Same with the trigger, as it's a personal thing. That can be cheaply fixed on many air rifles. Breakbarrels are hold sensitive...nature of the beast. There's a lot of personals for all guns. Sorry that's probably not the definitive answer you want.
Learn the "Artillery Hold", and it'll help with hold sensitive guns.

Not sure if Shadow does an extra screw tigger mod for the Air Magnum (XS-28). I know Mike Melick has done quit a few. Not sure going to an Airhawk, Blackhawk or a XS24 would be a better option other than detuning a Air Magnum.

No need to detune the Ruger imo. Heavier pellets will hang around 750-850 FPS and provide around 24-25 fpe, plenty for varmint hunting. Good accurate guns with a little attention. Mike at Flying Dragon knows that platform inside and out and does XS28's (same gun, different stock) regularly. His tune and trigger work makes them into sweet shooters.
The Ruger Air Mag is made by XISICO and is known as the XS28M under their brand. It's basically a clone of the Diana 350. For some reason the clones seem to produce a slightly higher amount of energy.
Those guns are hold sensitive and a bit barrel heavy. Takes a little practice, but once you have the hold figured out they can be very accurate.

ruger has fiber optic sights and a weaver mount. synth stock. and they can be had pretty cheap.
xs28 has old style sjghts which i thought i would hate, but like. dovetail mount and wood stock.
otherwise they are the same gun.
the 28 does come from Mike M so you're gonna get a nice tuned rifle for your money. just depends on what features you prefer.
i am happy with my 28.
