rws 34 question

i just had it tuned and noticed there is oil coming out of where the barrel goes into the breech, is this a major problem?

Can you post a pic Tom I'm not sure exactly what you mean about the oil.  Do you mean it's dripping from the hole where the air comes out from the compression tube?  Or just some oil laying around the block that holds the barrel?

Hey Tom, same thing is happening to mine. It's the exact same color of the gunk I cleaned out of the barrel when it arrived, so I'm assuming it's whatever oil Diana uses oozing out with use.

Dunno if this is bad or good or simply not a problem.

I don't know what happens during a tune, but do they remove the barrel from the block? I know more about general manufacturing processes than air rifles specifically. My guess (emphasis on guess) is they needed oil to get the barrel in the block in the first place and it's working its way out with each shot.

As long as the fit between the two is snug enough I'm guessing (again) it's not a problem..?

Yeah, some confirmation or correction from someone who actually knows would be awesome.

Guy's I have no "real" idea on it but it could most likely be as your guessing ,just factory lube? I think I would store them muzzle down till it stop's just to make sure it does not get in chamber area an wipe it off before an after every shooting session.Maybe summer heat is helping it come out also?

How much?  Doubt it's as bad as BP's leakage, LOL.  Aren't 34 barrels a press fit into the receiver?  Maybe it's something left over from that step of the manufacturing process.  Should stop weeping soon.  There's not much room in there for a lot of oil.

I have seen oil leaking kind of like that on one of my guns. It turned out to be the lube on all the breech lockup parts located in the bottom of the block. I just removed the pin, spring, etc and gave them a good cleaning as well as the hole they go into.

It's not a lot of oil... aw geeze, BP? On first pass I thought that was a notoriously leaky brand of air rifle. 

Been wondering if it was a press fit. If so, I'm not worried at all. Once all the excess oil comes out it should be locked in place for all time or it rusts out, whichever comes first.

Time will tell!
