My Beeman Falcon II project gun

A few years ago I was given this non functional Beeman Falcon II as a "fun little project".  I was told it was a 50's era gun.  It was rather Ugly, but I enjoy making ugly things less ugly....and thought I'd give myself a challenge of making this airgun function.  So I called up Beeman and ordered "everything that isn't metal or wood" and a new spring.  I cleaned all the goo out of the gun, and refinished the metal/wood, then rebuilt the gun.  I test fired it a few times then stuck it in my gun safe.

Fast forward about 4 yrs I found that the gun range seems to get further and further from my house, and I have less and less time to shoot.  I then read on rimfirecentral about people shooting airguns in their backyards.  I think to myself "I have a backyard!".  So I build a "silent trap" and buy some cheap Crossman Competition pellets.  I take the rifle out and put a hundred or so pellets through it only to find that the groupings look like they were shot my a blind man from 1 mile away.  Sadness overtook my heart when I read of a thing called "artillery hold" and found that it must be my fault that the groups were so terrible.  So I went out and gave this ever so akward hold a try....only to be disappointed.  Luckily when I saw the first poor group I ordered 4 different types of pellets from Pyramyd Air, and a QB78D from Flying Dragon.  The Pellets came in yesterday, and against the advice of my wife I went out after work and tried all four pellets, shooting 20 pellets of each type

First up with the CPHP - the entire group was on paper...this was an improvement, but still very disappointing.

Second was the RWS Supermag - roughly the same as the CPHP

Third was the RWS Meisterkugeln - group was cut in 1/3 or maybe less.  Hey that's pretty awesome!

Last one to try was the Beeman H&N Match pellets. - 20 rds in ~ 1'' off hand, open sights. This makes me a happy Ben.

THe silly "shoot N see" thingy ripped the paper, and was pushed back...but for a springer newb I'm rather pleased with these results.  I'm guessing this was from approx 25ft.  I didn't measure so no guarantees...but def between 20 and 30 ft.

Interesting gun. How old is it? I'm not familiar with the Falcon, but it looks similar to some of the late 70's German ar's. Thanks for posting it.

I gotta say, this looks just like my 1981 Beeman FXII. At least the before pic...the after looks awesome and nothing like mine . I could be wrong and am daily. But pretty sure this is an earily 80's rifle manufactured by a Spanish producer (Cometa or Norica..can't remember which) for the import company of Beeman. Dr. Beeman is an old dude but not that old. Super nice guy to meet in person BTW I bought mine because it was stamped "Santa Rosa". I am a Santa Rosa boy to the core. Enjoy that shooter, the before-after pic's give my inspiration to go out and get it in the shop.

It is Spanish.  I really don't know the age...someone older and in theory wiser than I claimed it was 1950's...but I kinda see that as unlikely....However I did believe it when I saw its condition LOL

Anywho, I think I may have 30 bucks in the gun, including paint/sand paper/tru oil, and all the Beeman parts.

I may do something else w/ the metal refinishing...as I'm not 100% in love w/ the appearance.  I do like the wood though
