New BSA Contender Scopes

I just got one of these. It seems pretty tight so far. Does anyone else have any experience with this optic?

I bought a BSA Contender 4X16X40 several years ago. I don'believe they are spring gun rated, unless things have changed. Mine failed after 3 (yes 3 ) shots when mounted on my Beeman R-10 (one of the internal lenses came loose and rattled around). I sent it back to BSA and they replaced it with a brand new one. I mounted that on my .22lr. Not a bad scope for the $.

I now have 2 of the newly designed Contender series: a 4-16x40 mounted on my Sig522 and the 6-24x40 mounted on my M-Rod. Both are very clear and produce a very nice image for a low dollar scope. I'm new so I believe you can click on the pics to enlarge them.

With the can on the 522, it's actually quieter than the M-rod!

From what I know, the BSA Contender scopes are available with two reticle options; the more conventional MIL dot, and the "Contender" reticle. Which one do you have?

I am pretty sure the Contender reticle looks something like this.

I have the Mil-Dot. There are 2 reticle styles but you can also get the Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle as well. Mine looks like this but doesn't illuminate:

Looks great mounted on your rifles Rob nice low profile. Do you have the MROD scope aim points dialed in at specific yardage? Looks like a bunch of them and perfect for airrifles.

That reticle does look nice, maybe I will pick up one of these scopes sometime. How is the tracking and repeatability of the windage/elevation knobs?

@GARY T:  The Mil-Dots do provide repeatable hold points. Dead center is 25 yards, 1st Mil-Dot down is 35 yards, 2nd Mil dot is 45-50 yards, the 3rd is 55-60 yards and the first triangle at the bottom about 70 yards.

@ .22 Varmint, I really can't answer your question intelligently. I set the knobs once I had her dialed in and left it alone.  I use the Mil-Dots for hold points. I do like that the Turrets are resettable to zero.

Overall, I really like the scopes and I feel they have a great aggressive look to them.

The Clarity at 24x is not bad. It's not a Leupold, but with the side focus, the images come in relatively sharp. I generally use the scope from 16x-24x. I feel it's better to have the extra magnification and not need it than not to have it and wish you did.
