At the 10 day mark...

OK talk about getting carried away big time! It's been 10 days since my guns arrived, the Mike M Balckhawk and the RAM. My wife thinks I am a bit out of control... I sure am having fun tho!

Gene said you folks like pictures, so I hope you don't mind a few of what I have been up to so far.

My back yard range, its about 25 yards to the targets.

My set-up, I shoot from the railing of the deck. The Mrs. made me a sandbag. It's about 18 lbs, I cover it with an old rug, holds pretty steady. The railings a bit high so a stool fits well enough.





View from the rail, that's the barrel looking all fuzzy on the right. The angle being downward the missed shots go into the dirt.




The obligatory scope shot. A bit embarrassing, but the targets on the right are from when I was having the breech seal problems (and some from the RAM- not an easy gun to master), the one on the left are after I used Mikes recommendation for shimming the seal. Not to shabby after I got it close to zeroed in.

Thats a nice setup you got! The ram/b28/350's can be tricky but once mastered man look out! They are awesome.

nice sit up and shooting from the bench like that is great if you hunt from it too.but if you site it in there on the bench , do you hold the fore stock ? what i found from shooting my magnum break barrels is that sited on the bench and not holding the fore stock in my palm,once dead nut on.if you shoot it from say leaning against a tree or free hand,shots were off.because was not sited with the recoil compensated while holding the gun and shots would go left from +  a inch or 3' i shoot left handed.but once i would site in holding the rifle on the bench and bag then it stayed true even from leaning or off hand,maybe its just me,but that's what i have found,on spring guns.now my 850 hammerili.its co2 and don't matter,it has no recoil.any who' i see in the back gound you got a single target about 46yards out,is that for the r.a.m?hehe.anyhow nice of you to share those pic,s and  can see your having fun..

Yep Orps and Barred and a Gold Comet too. Fox got one of my Orps, that's how I got into this. Had a Powerline 880 for about a year for the squirrels and wanted something for the fox so I bought the RAM. I joined GTA and realized how foolish that was! So thanks for that, truly! I determined that 4-5 pumps on the 880 at 20-30 yards wouldn't do much (it just dented an aluminum can with a BB) So the next time it came around I plinked it in the but, it gave a yip and scooted, have not seen it since.
I am working hard at mastering the RAM, it is a challenge! The more I get good at the Blackhawk the easier the RAM gets. I always try for 20-30 shot out of it every time I shoot.
Yes!! You spotted it!! It is just about 50 yards out. I hit it 5 times out of 30 or so, not easy! I practice free hand on both guns at least 10 shots each, every day, I find it very hard to do. I rest the fore stock(?) on my knuckles and hold it as lightly as I can. I can hit my pop cans 2-3 times out of 10 with the Blackhawk and 1-2 withe the RAM.

Nice setup. Looks good. In my case, the Air Hawk isn't very hold sensitive and a gentle hold near the end of the forestock produces good results. On every one of my magnums, a very loose hold farther back on the forestock works best. Pretty much rest em on my palm so some of the weight bias is towards the front instead of trying to balance the rifle perfectly.

I've been going down the fence line in my back yard and nailing yellow 20oz soda bottle caps every 1 yard and red soda bottle caps every 10ft so I can easly id my yardage when I shoot

I'll sure agree with that Billy. :-). I think anytime you have people who use guns of whatever sort, you'll have a high percentage of people who like to do for themselves.(be that good or bad), bet among us are all kinds of homesteaders and modern day hermits, gardeners and folks with various livestock. guess we've adapted to modern times with our neighborhood friendly AG's, but deep in our hearts we're still self reliant folks, chickens and all:-)

Gene is so right we love pics and thanks for sharing, you have a sweet range set up there and i like the chicken coupes if you built them you did a nice job.Good shooting I'm happy to see you have as much fun as me, my wife thinks I'm crazy but she is shooting with me at least a third the time.

Hey that is a real nice range setup you have! That RAM is a powerfull air rifle too and takes a while to learn how to hold to hit the target.
