Mod 95 trigger sear malfunction

Gentlemen,
I had a very scary incident today while attempting to adjust the Quattro trigger on my Mod 95 using the 3x16x.5 screws. I had the trigger almost perfect, but it  would not repeat more than three shots in a row. Needed repeated adjustment and the slightest1/4 turn would sometimes give major differences in trigger function ( long first stage or even unable to fire completely ). The worst part was when I cocked and closed the barrel to the receiver, the gun went OFF. I did not pull the trigger, the safety was on, all I did was close the barrel and it went OFF.  Thankfully I had the gun pointing down range towards the target , and nothing happened, but man, that could have been very ugly. I said a few thank you Lord for watching over me, then I changed back to the original factory adjustment screws.  Please be careful out there guys . I was lucky. It could have been a very bad day.   Dale

What you described is normal, and expected, if the forward most screw is turned in to much.  Glad you are ok.

Indeed, people should not be messing with the adjustments, much less installing longer screws without a full understanding of how the mechanism works. Trial and error with this may work on an unloaded PCP, but it's entirely a different story with a springer.

There are still PM's and other reference sources, including people who copy threads and store them, incrementally, as Word documents, just in case something "happens" to them.

I'm new to these guns also. After looking at the trigger assembly diagrams,are these long screw adjustments just reducing contact area of the contact points,or actually adjusting spring tension?
As wear on the contact points progresses,you might end up with a dangerous setup.
Would a slighlty weaker trigger spring be a better way to go,just as it is done in real handguns?
Just a question here,as I am learning how these things work!

BTW - You did not have a "Sear Malfunction" . . . Just a "Miss-Adjusted Trigger" . . . Be CAREFUL !

Yes, that is exactly why. Someone is going to get hurt. We will not permit posts that can and will be detrimental and dangerous to our membership. As can be seen, it is an accident waiting to happen.

Nobody ... and I mean nobody should make this modification or any other trigger modification unless you are well versed in trigger.

I have sent Tarheel an email requesting that he no longer make any post in regards to trigger modifications. If it persists, further action will be taken.
