1077 conversion?

I like the specs on the 1077 as a nice little plinker, but it's not offered in .22.  And the Marauder is the only repeater in .22 they have).   What would be required to convert a 1077 to .22 caliber or possibly .25 caliber?

Obviously I'd need a metal breech and a barrel.  Would something from a 2240 or similar actually work or would this require special machinery and parts?  I was looking at the 1077 and noticed that it appears to be using the same rotary magazine as the Marauder, which got me thinking.

i think it could be pulled off with a larger mag and barrel, but i think some major mods to the mag/cycle assem. would be needed to pull it off, im no engineer but i think the rifle is what it is

   The Crosman 1077 uses a completely different magazine from the Marauder. The Mrod's is a self contained, spring loaded magazine that indexes automatically every time the bolt is withdrawn from the empty chamber. From what I understand the 1077 uses a revolving 12 shot clip with that is moved by the force of the trigger pull, resulting it the 1077's characteristic heavy, unpleasant double action trigger pull. I think it would be a cool idea to have a 1077 in a larger caliber, but you would not really be "converting" it. Chances are you would end up building a new gun constructed largely of custom parts based on the 1077 mechanism. It would be a very involved project but I would not rule it out entirely.

If you like a CHALLENGE then have at it but, like others have noted, the magazine, the centerline of the mechanism and the trigger/actuator is all designed for .177 cal. Not sure you can de-construct a lot of the molded to size plastic stuff either.

Looking at it, a .22 clip might be possible to manufacture on a makerbot or other 3d printer.  It looks like the thing has a simple friction type advance, so changing the length and pitch of the center notches to rotate to where the larger .22 caliber pellets would fit seems to be pretty simple (similar to one of those 22/22 mag revolvers with interchangeable cylinders).  The barrel is probably similar to other Crosman .22 barrels (would be fantastic if a $12 22xx series 16 inch barrel just dropped in place).  The issue then would be the breech.  Maybe machining out the opening and channel, and then retrofitting a 22 caliber bolt face/seal would be enough?

I do wish they had a few more cheaper options that used rotary clips or things like the Marauder uses.  It's really my only gripe with my 2240. - the port is hard to load and the only magazine/clip mods for it seem to be needlessly complex. 
I wager that if someone came up with a conversion kit, sales of the 1077 would probably nearly double for several months.
