Here in the states we have a name for that it's called buck fever. I'm not making fun of you so don't take it that way. The only thing I can tell you is take a deep breath and try to calm yourself and keep trying.

This is why I don't shoot from a bench, except for sighting in a new scope.

first off you need good equipment! and a good trigger pull weight! and all the other elements that go with a hunting rifle! then you need to learn to how to shoot the rifle un aided! I never shoot off of a 100% rested position like a bench because your not learning how to hold and support the rifle for a hunting situation, I stand up and shoot off of a step ladder with only my forend hand rested on the rung of the ladder nothing else touching or I sit on the ground using some 5gal buckets stacked up again with only my forend hand rested on a pad on top of the bucket nothing else touching! I use this technique to sight in and target shoot at a 30yd minmum, the standind up part helps me shoot off hand and I also shoot sitting sitting down using my knee as a rest and or use other positions that I would encounter in the field, I never shoot from a bench rested position because as you have found out it will kill your hunting shooting, AG's are not like PB's and perform differently from bench to field shooting because of the different recoil involved with AG's JMO

It's night and day and they only way to be deadly out in the field is to get out there and shoot under Ma Natures conditions. If possable take time and set up target's at different yards, angles etc. then practice shooting offhand, leaning against a tree etc.. All I do is hunt with my airguns and have been doing it for a long time. Once you learn to control the hunt fever factor you can focus on putting the cross hairs where they need to be. One thing that I've learned is plan your stalk/attack if moving through the timber then move like a slug going over a rock. There's no hurry to get to the next rise since some critters will sit tight right in front of you. Stop and really study your surroundings and if something don't look right I always look for eyeballs hehe. Ed

Like said above practice practice and more practice. A light trigger will let you get the shot off quicker so your not sitting there trying to hold the gun still for a long time. When i go out target shooting i shoot off a rest but always do a little off hand just to stay in tune with the way things are in the field. The nerves part man i get it to some times. Just gotta let those go and relax. When youe stalking go super slow relax and pay really close attention to everything, stop enjoy the quiet and scenery, then move some more. Back in nc when stalking through my swamp i would spend 1-2 hrs scouring through that place that i knew like the back of my hand and not cover very much land. And the first thing i always do is step into the woods stop close my eyes and listen for about 5 min. Then look around for about another 5. Then start the stalk. If you hear something stop and hunker down and just wait. Ive had deer, fox, squirrels all kinds of stuff walk right by or real close. The squirrels got it the rest were cool to watch. Especially the fox. We were in a staring contest for about a minute before he went on his way.

I always zero in my scope for a 1" target at 30 yds and put 3 shots in that, THEN i step away from the bench and try to hit a much larger 3-4" target at 25 yds. shooting free hand. This really emphasizes how important your breathe, hold of you rifle, squeeze of the trigger is, i even pull the trigger between heart beats so it is more steady, when you are chasing a game your pulse goes up and trying to hold steady is difficult and this is good practice. Every little thing makes a biiig difference.
