Trail XL update

So I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I started to tear apart the Trail XL. I wanted to clean out any excess oil and just look inside. First the threaded end cap twisted off with only hand pressure and a pair of needle nose pliers to engage the holes. There seemed to be something that looked like Teflon tape on the threads. The gun came apart without issues. The factory seal looked ok (it had a couple nicks but nothing bad), but since I didn’t have a replacement (and didn’t want to wait several days for one to arrive) I decided to reuse it. I de-burred the cocking slot and cleaned out the compression tube. Some black/rust colored stuff came out on the paper towels. That may have been what was burning off. I put a little moly on the seal and put it back together. I struggled with the trigger till I figured out a trick. Put the piston and leave the ram out. Slide the trigger in and use your finger to push the sear down into place as you slide the trigger forward into position. Then put the ram and the rest of the parts in. Much easier that way. I put a little moly on the plastic breech washers and put it all back in the stock.  Set the safety, crossed the fingers and pulled down on the barrel. The trigger latched and the gun cocked. Whoo hoo. Loaded a pellet and shot it into the duct seal. Virtually no smoke now. That “ping “sound is still there when it fires. Still not sure what that is. After a few more test shots, I shot 5 over the chrony. I had to be careful not to shoot my chrony as there is no scope. I was just sighting over the Weaver mount and the barrel shroud. 
Kodiak pellets @ 4700 FASL went 696.6, 699.7, 694.1, 704.4 and 696.3.
I have to lock tite the screws and mount the scope now.

That's a neat trick. I will definitely try that on my  next assembly.

Next time you tear down, I suggest deburring INSIDE the piston skirt where the ram body rides. Mine has been scarring up Gene's synthetic bushing which i glued onto my ram body.

That ping sound is metal to metal contact.
Maybe need grs or gsr bushings from Gene.
