trying to goose my D48... baseline
«

I am going to put a kit in my D48 .22 I want to establish the baseline so here it goes: My goal is to up the FPE and see if I can keep the good feeling it has in the shot cycle:
Here is the rifle, a D48 Refurb bought from AGD in 2010, its wearing a centerpoint 4-16x40 mildot and has a nice Morgan adjustable buttpad
It chrony's with JSB 18.13 gr pellets, 728.4, 730, 723.2, 722.6, 728.6
Here is the current accuracy shot at a lasered 24 yards from a shaky table, but with a sandbag, 5 shots.
I am ordering the Vortek kit this week and we will see what happens!

Nice gun...nice shooting.....
Have you already smoothed the trigger out or done the other baseline lube, mini-tune issues? Are you going to do those with the kit installation?
I'm currently having the tuner take my 48 22 t06 down from 850's with CP to your numbers to enhance the smoothness/shot cycle....and hopefully enhance the accuracy...still plenty of long distance killing power unless you're in the desert with needs for very long shots.
Good luck with the project.

I think you're doing the right thing, documenting it's performance before the tune and using that as a baseline to see how the tune changed it. The one thing I would do is to chrony more pellet types. Get different weights and brands in there so you have more to compare it to later. After all, what if, post tune, your gun doesn't shoot JSB 18 grains pellets that well? Also, are you sure your gun doesn't develop more energy with a lighter pellet? How would that pellet shoot after the tune?

thanks Clark,
I have been getting the following:
CPHP 14 gr- 19 fpe
JSB Predator 16gr- 20 fpe
CP box- 18 fpe (curious as these are also about 14gr )
hopefully, I can get to the best pellet\power combination...

well, I tried to pay for my Vortek kit last night using my amex cc but it wouldn't work on the site for whatever reason, soooo I went to the JM site and bought a ZRT HI POWER kit for the 48. I will report the results of that once it arrives and gets installed...
I will purchase the VORTEK Kit at a later date and do my test then...i guess.. sigh
