Since getting a 1322, i'm pretty well convinced that pumpers are the true perfect airgun, self contained, extremely consistent if pumped the same number of times, no springer recoil, as accurate as a pcp. Unfortunately manufacturers keep pumpers as kid guns for the most part. But in my opinion they offer a lot of desireable features. Especially after simple modifications. Now i really really want a 2240 as they look great and offer lots of mods but i'm afraid i'll go through the same issues i dealt with on a 2260 once, lots of mods and a sweet looking rifle but the velocities were different during the 40 or so useful shots and you could never truely count on the gun to be at the correct point of aim. Lower velocities early and late in the 12gr powerlet made you hit low/left, it was maddening on paper and to me designated co2guns to plinker status. Adding a "Boss" valve increased fps but not consistency. Does anyone make a tiny regulator for 12gr 2240's? Any way of getting 30+ consistent shots from one? Thanks for any info, jeff

Temperature has a big effect on the pressure of CO2 in your gun. This will be noticed with changes in environmental temperature. When warm outside it probably will shoot higher than when cold. Also, the temperature of the gas goes down right after shooting (from rapid expansion) and shot velocity will drop with it if you shoot again too soon. If you let the temperature come back up between shots then it should be very consistent. That is, until you run out of liquid CO2 and at that point the pressure drops with each shot. In my old 112 Crosman bulk fill I get about 75 shots before that happens and the speed is very consistent on the chronograph for the same pellet type as long as I wait between shots. I wait maybe 20 or 30 seconds before taking another shot if I'm looking for good accuracy. Beyond that, you may have other issues with gas leaks etc that are not consistent between shots.

Rate of fire affects the temperature quite a bit.... and as the temperature of the CO2 drops, so does the pressure and the POI.... If you're not power hungry, clipping a couple of coils off the hammer spring will save CO2, and reduce the amount of cooling as you shoot, giving more shots within a smaller velocity range....
