Longest shot with a trail np?

Just wanna know what was your longest kill shot with a trail np as well as longest regular target shot. I also wanna know what would be your longest range recommendation to take a shot on a squirrel

My Trail is the XL1100. 75 yards is my longest kill shot with that gun. It was a dove up in the top of a big Pin Oak tree. I took prop against one of the back porch posts and made the shot. I've killed several doves and squirrels with this gun at distances exceeding 50 yards, but 75 is the farthest.

nice! i wanna know about any regular trail np kills and target shots because i really like long range shooting so i want to know the outer limits of these regular nps

I would say the max for any springer would be 30 yards, especially for the .22.  As for PCP's that's an entirely different story.

I've killed a dove from 45 yards with my Beeman RS2 .177 w/ 4x32 scope.

I hit a Coke can on a tall stick 50 yards away with a Trail NP pretty consistently,tried to hit a can around 75 yards but could never hit it.

In late 2011, I got a Groundhog with a refurb regular Titan at 50+ yards with one shot.  I must have been lucky as all get out, since the scope was busted.  Either that or he died of a heart attach because he was so fat eating my neighbor's apples.

My trail NP is sighted in for 15 yards and get squirrels all the time using FTT 5.53   I did get a squirrel at 25 yards once using JSB 15.9grains on a fluke.  I aimmed two mils high and thinking I was going to miss because my gun is Little inconsistent with JSB pellets.  How ever got him and he droped dead at 25 yards. 

Now my disco is a whole another story.

Titan GP .22 at 50 yards MAX. I would shoot, but others that are better shots could do more but I would say 75 yrds max.

the answer would have to be. whatever distance you can consistantly hit the vitals with every shot. same with any weapon. chances are, the trail can kill squirrels farther away than most can shoot it accurately enough, as is usually the case with magnum springers

I hammered about 10 ground squirrels that were tearing up my garden last summer from 40 yards out the window of the upper level of my house.  Just popped off the screen and fired away.  Using CPHP's, only one managed to crawl back down it's hole.

Any spring gun that can do the following....

Put ~ 14 grains of lead (in .22) out of the muzzle at 680 fps or better.....

Group at 1 inch at 35-50 yds........

Has always had enough power to rip thru a steel can at 50 yds, both sides.   

And has proven to me that it can take game like turkey, rabbit, squirrel at the distance it can hold a 1 inch group to 60 yds.

For bigger stuff like groundhog, raccoon, skunk (skunks ain't big, just tough) I limit this power output level to 30 yds.

I'm sure you can goto 90yrds in .177.
 My RS2 shooting 7.9s' at 949 fps still pack 6 pounds of energy at 90yrds.
 Due to their increased drag, .22cals' slow down alot faster at range...

I was a little misleading.    I have only made those turkey shots at 45 (lasered). 

I am guesstimating 60 based on the power left at that range......

But yes, and more than once.   Headshots of course.   that is why I say  you must be able to hold a 1 inch group with it at the distance you wanna shoot.

They are tough, and the pellets I was actually using were pushing more like 15.5 grains.  TF domes.   But the energy should be there, lookup chairgun at Hawke and download the program.  You'd be surprised at how accurately you can plot trajectory and find out ballistics, provided you have the information to plug in.

Once you get past 35 yds, most stuff in this range will really drop, and groups open up exponentially.   One inch at 30 usually translates to 2 inches at 50, at least for me and spring rifles.

The 45 yd shots to the head, if close to the eye, most often pass thru.   Sometimes if you get the right shot, it can blow the top of the head clean out.   Just leave a flopping bird.   Id liken it to bowhunting with a gobbler guilloutine bh.

Not trying to claim I've actually done it with the spring rifle at 60, so maybe I'd better back up and punt and say " If I can hold the group at that, I think it would have the energy to dispatch".  Most fowl really don't have thick skulls, per se.

I nailed a crow at 30 yards with my trail NP.  The sucker dropped to the ground and when I went to retrieve him.  He got up and flew away.

The rugular trail np is easily sub 1" groups at 40-50 yards. Not sure about what the power is at that range though. It stil hits with a good smack however.

I could hit a coke can at 85 yards in little to no wind last winter with my xl 1100. Off a bench that is. Longest kill shot was around 60 yards on a crow.
