Fx sighting woes

So I tried sighting in on a 30 yard target.  Seems to be firing low.  I tried again, fired low again.  I adjusted all the way until it wouldnt go anymore, still firing about six inches too low.

I'm going to remount the sight, but I have no clue what the heck is going on.

UTG High mounts (to fit magazine) and the simmons in my sig.  The mrod was shooting ok with it mounted with the same stuff.

Any ideas?

swap the rings front to back if they are 2 pc ones.  Make sure the recoil pin for springers is removed and not lifting a ring as well.  I would then try some BKL rings before I blamed the rifle.

If not, shame on me.  I was actually in the process of swapping them out as I read this and saw what you said about the scope stop.  Little bugger was poking it's head out.

if that doesnt help, go for a good setup with the a new scope.. it could be the scope is having issues... new bkl mounts and a leapers  swat scope

It moved up significantly, however it's still a bit off.  The new mounts will be coming soon (BKL) and if the scope is bad, I'm going to get another one.  Though I don't think it's necessarily the scope -- it hits very consistently, just low.

I'll switch the one with the hole back again tomorrow at the range and see what I can do.

Worst case, I'll try shimming it.

Hope the BKL rings work out.  But if they don't, check out the Burris Signature rings with the adjustment plastic inserts (be sure to get the ones with the adjustment inserts).  The opening of these inserts are made off-center so that you could adjust the heights of the front and back of the scope independently.  A bonus is you'll never get ring marks on the scope using these.  They're between $45 and $55 last time I saw them, can't remember where though.  They come in a few different models, besides heights, some have the knob with slot type mounting screws, if you like that style.  I have a pair of these bought used, very nice but not good for higher power springers because mine only has a single dovetail mounting screw at each ring, not enough to keep the ring tight under strong recoil--but not an issue on a PCP.

Alrighty, something is wrong.

I bought a walmart centerpoint cheapy ($70) to try out and it has the same issue as my simmons mag 44.  I tried both the UTG mounts and BKL mount in various configurations.  POI is still low by 3-4 inches at 8 yards.

I had to call AoA and they are senting me a set of SportsMatch mounts to try out and see (I bought them for now).  If those don't work, I gotta send the gun back.  Luckily the guys at AoA are awesome about this.

Terry have you tried sighting it in further out?  You are shooting a .25 at ranges most scopes don't even focus down to. Maybe you should try shooting it at 20 yards and sighting it in

I've tried 8, 30, and 50 yards.  Similar results.

I'm sending it back to AoA (they gave me 0 hassles about it).  Hopefully I get a new one that works well.

With that said during our conversations I can see that you would not be happy with any air gun. You just dont have the time and grade it takes to address the issues you seem to be having. You started off with a M-Rod and instead of working out the issues, sent it back and then bought an FX.

There is nothing wrong with the FX except the inexperience you have dealing with common issues of setting up a gun.

Well, I wouldn't have gotten the FX unless it was given as a gift to me, which it was.  Ideally, it was what I wanted from the get go after doing some research, but I decided to settle on the marauder.  If I didn't have the opportunity for the FX as a gift, I probably would have gone through the process of fixing the mrod.

Yeah, I'm still new to it all -- I'm learning as much as possible in a short period of time.  I believe there is something wrong, but I guess there might not be.  I'm surprised that it is a common issue to have an expensive gun like that not align using two different mounts and two different scopes without shimming; the same mount and scope combo worked fine on the mrod.

I was told that 2/10 fx's can have this issue by a guy at AoA.  Either way, this should be resolved soon.

Send it back to AOA. Let them look it over and let them set it up there way and shoot some targets to show you.

So the guy from AoA popped open another box, and lo-and-behold, it was shooting low.

He took off the moderator and found that the oring was seated wrong on the air stripper, pushing it down and forcing the gun to shoot low.  He said that could be the issue with mine.

So, hopefully resolved soon.  And yes gene, I will be satisfied with it when it shoots straight
