Sometime around 1982 a "Blue Hair" crossed the centerline on a curve and caused me to lay-down.
Cracked my helmet against the curb and still have "road rash" scars on my right knee and elbow ... every since then I have worn full gear when I ride.
That was the ATGATT coment .

From my full face helmet to my riding shoes, I am covered in leather when I go for a jaunt.

I have seen people riding around during hot Summer days in bathing suits.
 Thinking to myself, if they go down, talk about road rash....bare skin sliding down that hot tar would be like holding a part of your body up to a belt sander.   and on a gravel road ....

I clearly remember at the big Loudon-Laconia bike races about 40 or 50 years ago I saw a Harley chopper crash not far in front of me.   The young lady on the back was wearing cutoff short shorts, a bikini top and sandals, no helmet.   When I passed her lying on the side of the road she was bleeding and had a lot of red looking flesh and wasn't moving.  It was ugly and I probably wont forget it.  I hope she got some leathers if she ever rode again.  I made sure my wife was covered head to toe in quality armor when she was riding.

All the metal replacement parts in my body, most of the scars and all of the physical twitches are the result of my dirt bike riding days. It's an odd set of trophies.

The main lesson I learned from riding my brother's motor cycles was that hide grows back so slow. Never got one one again. I took up sky diving. My hot rods were a '69 Roadrunner and much later an '87 Grand National. Now I get my little thrills from a '08 Saturn Sky Red line I got a couple of months ago.

Talking Tank Fest kind'a stuff. The Bradley Fighting Vehicles we took from Germany to Desert Storm were so old they had three digit serial numbers and nowhere for bolt on reactive armor. "On the way".

The tank slap is called "death wobble" for a reason.... more prevalent on bikes with less rake.
 Worst rookie mistake is to hit the brakes. Best to give it the throttle and power through.
