Rethinking my position : The TX200 is not too pretty to take hunting

Hello All, In the past I've alluded to the opinion that the TX200mk111 is just too nice to risk taking to the woods for squirrel hunting besides being a somewhat heavy gun compared to say a Beeman R-9. Well I have experienced an epiphany. You know, a moment of clarity. So I am willing to admit that my bias that the rifle is too nice what with it's figured walnut stock and all to actually take hunting was indeed a little short sighted. Yesterday I checked the rifles POI with predator pellets because I had been shooting cpl's exclusively since I bought the gun a couple of years ago. Same POI as cpl's so I was good to go at the squirrels. I have a large Hickory tree by my yard that is loaded and is a squirrel magnet. I've been watching these squirrels for a couple of weeks while waiting for the weather conditions to get to my liking before having a go at them. This morning here in the hollow where I live the air temp was 52 deg, clear and calm.Perfect.At daylight the action began. As I sipped my coffee the tree began to come alive. I counted 13 greys in this one tree. Long story short the TX200Mk111 .177 is indeed an excellent tool for this job. This rifle is sooo accurate that it deserves to be hunted with. I had five hit the ground with a thud, doa.Preds get 'er done too. So for my fruits worthy of repentance, I promise to never again say or think that a TX200 is too nice or too heavy to take hunting. Just use a long shooting stick to prop the rifle on for those tree top shots. I have repented from my error. Happy hunting to all my airgun buds.

I take my walnut stocked TX squirrel hunting as well and like you said, the amazing consistent accuracy of the rifle makes it a deadly hunter
I guess someday I'll wind up getting a scratch or two but I buy my guns to hunt with so my TX is going to keep going into the woods with me.
Congrats on the 5 nutters

If it was easy it wouldn't be hunting it would be shopping.

Thanks Ed and Jeff. I'll no doubt hunt with some of my other rifles too but I have to acknowledge that as good as these rifles are that they are not only capable hunters their weight really isn't much of a negative factor. After all don't we really want a hunting rifle to be superbly dependably accurate when a shot presents itself? If it looks good doing it so much more the better.

Oh BTW, I have already eaten all 5 stretched out over these last two days. Young squirrels are very high on my list of favorite game dishes. They hardly ever make it into my freezer but pretty much get consumed pronto. Now I have a good reason to try to harvest some more. Ye doggies, It's great to be a squirrel hunter.
