POP...Psst while filling w/ hand pump

Fairly new with AGs.
Yesterday, when filling the 3622 with a hand pump, at 1600 psi there was a very loud pop and air was rushing out from somewhere. I put my hand near the fill port and felt nothing. With the check plug installed, the hand pump filled fine to 2100 psi. So my heart dropped at my he prospect of learning how to replace stuff inside the 3622.
Today it pumped up fine to 2000 psi and it had held air overnight at 1600. I left the pump hose on for about 5 minutes and it held at 2000. Left the 3622 for three hours and it was still at 2000. Shot three pellets (without the chrono), but all seemed normal.
What happened? Anything else I need to do? Any help is appreciated.

To be clear, when this happened, did the gun empty completely to zero air?   

My first thought when I read your title was an oring in your pump's foster connector gave out and you lost some air, but not all, and maybe it reseated itself when you reconnected?  Ditto for orings eleswhere on the pump itself -- I've had parts work loose and need twisted back together.

If it lost all air and magically fixed itself... I do not have a good guess.

 Were you filling from fully empty ? If so it could of been the valve poppet seating. Seems strange, the only other pop sound would be the inlet valve opening when tube pressure is reached, but no air should leak, unless an oring was not right and did a final seating

The 3622 had about 1000 psi at the start, based on the gentle pop when reaching that pressure. Then the loud boom, which made me jump, happened at 1600 psi. The AG retained the 1600 psi after the event and the pump went rapidly to zero.
The hand pump was loose where it is screwed into the base, so I threaded it back tight and checked all the fittings. My guess at this point is the pump was the problem and tightening everything up has worked. The old sayin, “If it works, don’t fix it” seems to apply. If I don’t need to do anything else, I will keep going full speed ahead, but will be wary when pumping. I plan to get some chrono readings soon just in case.

 It sounds as though one of your connections in your pump line worked loose, I had this happen once when I wasn't checking the connections in my pump line, the nuts holding the water/air filter came loose as I was pumping. Retighten with the provided wrench. I now check my connections to make sure they are tight,, every now and then.

You are correct! I bought a cheap pump and switched the hoses. The problem stayed with the line, not the pump. Retightened everything and replaced the o-ring at base, but did not fix it.
