First Airgun: Benjamin 132 air pistol help needed

I just joined and asked some questions in my introduction message but now I understand that I screwed up and can't fix it....  This is the forum to ask questions!

OK, I bought an odd box of vise grips at an estate sale and in the bottom of the box was a Benjamin 132 air pistol.   My pistol was made in 1978, and I wouldn't doubt if it may have last been used in the last century.  It was really dry and a little dusty and it didn't pump at all.

I tried to pump it a number of times and nothing happened.  I put a little #6 spindle oil in the air pump cylinder, around the safety/trigger, and in the bolt.   I later learned that this is NOT to oil to use.  The gun did pump up once and blew some dirt out of the barrel but won't pump up now.

I purchased a seal kit, the tool, and some pellets from Baker Airguns.  I watched a number of videos on YouTube on how to repair these and I think I should be able to get it done.   I couldn't find the wiper felt at Baker, so I think I'll try to make it with some hard felt that I have for my lathe's way wipers.   I went slow boat on the delivery and it should be here in 5 ish biz days.

Would you try to use IPA to flush the air pump cylinder, the valves, etc. to see if  I could get it to work and then use ATF or air compressor oil to oil the gun before the Baker stuff arrives?   

How does one insure that the barrel is clean?  I was amazed that the barrel is actually rifled (very, very light rifling) and I certainly don't want to screw that up (especially with a brass barrel).  I understand why one doesn't want to shoot anything but the lead pellets.  I certainly don't want to screw up this rifling.  I'm thinking about trying to get some extra long Q tips and using 91+IPA to clean the barrel.

Also, how does one fix scuffs on the finish of this gun?  The gun actually has a beautiful slightly worn finish with the brass being a bit more visible on the areas held by the hand except where the air pump barrel was fixed.   It's not that big of a deal, but if one could add a little color over the removed finish and make it blend a little better, the gun would be quite nice looking.

I am a complete noob when it comes to air guns.   I appreciate your thoughts on my questions above.  I'm sure that I'll fix this gun up, get it working right, and then shoot about 15 pellets through it before putting it away.   Maybe I'll be blessed with a grand child someday who may appreciate it or maybe I could trade it for a tube tester or something.

I ordered the parts from Baker to rebuild this.   I'm trying the 91% IPA soak trick and it doesn't seem to be doing anything thus far (left in the pump cylinder for about 12 hours).   There is a number of good videos on YouTube too.

I tried the 91% IPA trick (putting a couple of cc's in the pump chamber) three times and got the gun to pump up and fire.   The pump handle does not push up (indicating a leaving valve).  The pumping action is a bit variable in that it takes different number of pumps to get to the same difficulty of pump (pressure build up in the air chamber).   I ordered a rebuild kit and will probably just rebuild it so that things are working correctly.   I have all of the IPA fired out of the guy and it's pretty dry now.   I did see some misting out around the bolt - I imaging that the bolt is not sealed really well.

It just hurts to  pay 2X for shipping than it costs for the felt wiper - but the guy has a good selection of part for this gun.
