I am a layman in regards to springs so please bear with me here. I may be asking the wrong question as I do not know if I am looking for a finished spring or if one must be cut and finished from a length. I have seen a lot about wire gauge, number of coils, and other spring technicals, but I'm missing something. I am basically looking for that nice 40+ shot 38-39fpe string that Travis (oldpro) posted in Scott's (Motorhead) Airacuda Technical Data & Tuning post. Can anyone suggest me a ready made Short Stiff Spring, or the proper "raw" spring and finished length?
I have cut and finished a few springs myself, just winging it, with reasonable results. I've read a bit since and can probably do better, but I can at least make a serviceable spring end if need be.
Thanks folks,
Jared

I 2nd this post as I wish my .25 airacuda max could get a better shot count. If a diff spring will help out I am willing to try, Travis has helped me out immensely in the past and I cant thank him enough! Im at 30 shots max with my current set up and its about maxed out,
Ironically name is also Jared!

Hello Jared. No springs for us Jareds.
Have you tried another spring or any other hammer mod? I happened to have a foot-long spring with the same O.D., I.D., wire gauge, and coil count as the stock Airacuda Max spring. I do not know If that makes it the same spring, but it seems to "spring" the same to me. I cut and finished a new spring from it that leaves roughly 1/8" play between the spring and hammer without the plastic spring guide spacer in the hammer adjustment/cap. A Short Similar Spring I suppose. Backed off the valve spring a bit. Regulator at stock setting. I was really just winging it here to learn what would happen. The shot cycle is now shorter and smoother. It feels nice. I don't have time to run shot strings on it right now but if the results are interesting when I do I will post them in the Airacuda tuning post.

I have done a fair amount of tuning with the JTS tech, many many thanks to him, we tried every thing from removing the spacer, the plastic rod and every thing, after many diff sessions, it was decided, I probably got the wrong spring over all in my gun. With that being said I get 3 mags full power shooting JSB hades at around 825 which is where I found the best accuracy for that pellet, managed to even take a sage rat at 124 yards the other day with it.
I guess im stuck where its at, not all that bad,
I am just now really hopeful Buck Rail will make a tactical stock for the gun, might lightening it up a bit.
