I used  a Unimat lathe for straightening main and feather shafts   for R/C helicopters, probably saved over a hundred shafts learning how to fly r/c  choppers
self taught

saved hundreds of dollars from buying new main and feather shafts  @ $5.99 each

made some bushings and spacers  and used it for horizontal drilling

made a profile r/c helicopter   using corplast

got the Unimat lathe  at an r/c club auction $100 bucks
came with the original wooden case and milling attachment
used large o-rings for the drive belt

the unimat is lite and portable

a lathe is a necessry tool for any craft hobby

Livermore r/c swap meet today  on Vargas rd off 580 going north, LFE, Rain or Shine

7am -1 pm,   RAINY

mostly batteries, r/c supplies , and r/c planes & jets

never saw  any machinery, just a dremel tool missing  the collet   for $7 bucks

there's always the Bayside r/c club  auction  in the Holy Spirit church in Fremont every November
everything is available, even a Tamiya metal track Sherman tank r/c with original sound track

we use the  gym for indoor r/c , flew the  Flyzone Albatross
pizza was always available, nice little small group

everyone comes here  from the Bay area

they usd to have an r/c field at the BART parking lot in Fremont Warm Spring rd nr Mission Blvd

I flew there many years with Bernie and George, it was our afternoon meeting place
tested many 4 stoke engines there including Enya .46 when fuel was only $6.99 a gallon at Sheldon's

making a foam Me109E Emil flat hole spinner cone  to exact scale

can only be made with a lathe

any  standard spinner  accessory looks  all too wrong , prop mounted too close to back plate and makes the me109 emil look different, gotta have a special flat nose hole spinner  with prop mounted halfway in middle of spinner, so that means a long skirted spinner with the cone attached to end of the prop, a 2 part spinner

that's not bad, it's only a 39.99 kmart  brand new rifle back in 1980

my edelstaal unimat lathe was 169.00 back then brand new

now it's worth 600.00  on ebay , missing 3 jaw chuck and tail stock, but includes a worthless power feed attachment, no milling post or wooden case  and no drive belt
