Crosman 180 question

 I had a 180 when I was a young man, back in the 60s. I bought one for my grandson many years later, somewhere about 2009. He outgrew it, now uses centerfires, rimfires and shotguns and I have his 180 back. It is in need of a real good overhaul internally. I plan to spruce up the exterior myself, as I have worked on vintage guns for many years for myself.

 I have read from time to time that there are shops that can do reliable changes to the 180 that will increase it's power/velocity. My question is ....... can any of you recommend particular shops that are knowledgeable of the Crosman 180 in regards to replacing seals, etc., and can perform the "upgrade" to increase it's velocity on the different settings?

Congrats on getting the gun back.  The 180 is one of my favorites. 

If you look at the back of the cocking knob and there's a hole in it, it's for the hammer adjustment screw.  That lets you regulate the power output.  Not all of them have that.

You're only going to be able to get so much out of it velocity-wise.  Co2 has intrinsic limitations.  You can only add so much more gas and get a result.  It's like black powder in that the extra volume just goes out as waste.

Mac-1 has been a great shop, but Tim is currently out of service.  Hoping he regains his capabilities soon.

Keep in mind, that cocking knob rotates and it must be in the correct orientation for the tiny allen wrench to align with the adjusting screw. It's been awhile but if I remember right the correct position for the hole is 3:00. And I don't remember the size of the allen wrench required. I'm sure you can find it on the web.


Update... I found this.

Pay attention to the caution at the bottom of the page. It ain't fun to fix if you go too far.

Also notice that counter clockwise increases and clockwise decreases.

  The 180 is my favorite 12 gram cartridge gun.  The first model I took apart and resealed.  Easy to work on.  You might try Rick at Precision Pellet.
