I need some suggestions as to what to do with this. I was not pleased with the accuracy from the beginning. It was suggested that I learn the gun. Well, I have shot springer's for years and never had a problem with them. This one just does not group good. I put a tuna trigger in it, the brass/bronze pivot washers and also cleaned up the crown although it looked good. I have also tried three different pellets. Velocity is around 712 fps with 14.3 grain pellets. I have even put a different scope on it. Never the less tonight I tried it after the pivot washers were put in and the groups were as bad as before. Can this gun be saved . I am ready to wrap it around a tree !

Awwww, that's too bad

Sounds like you have a dud on your hands. I've had mine about 3weeks and am very happy with its performance. To my surprise it seems to like the daisy HP pellets which are very cheap. It can out shoot me, which isn't saying much, but quarter size groups at 25 yards are easy. Are you sure about your scope, mounted solid etc?

did you clean the barrel really well?i hope that's all it needs?

Does the barrel need re-crowning? Are all the stock screws holding tight? Is the chamber seal intact and the right size? Is the barrel clean and free of burrs?

The barrel was cleaned before it was ever shot and again after approx. 200 rounds. The scope is tight as well as all stock screws. It has around 800 rounds thru it and I did touch up the crown although it really did not need it. Pellets that I tried are the CHP, CPHP, and crow magnums. I also removed the muzzle brake.

Maybe the piston seal got cut as the piston was being installed. The innards of some of the airguns are really sharp. Leaking air will cause inaccuracy.

I wondered about a nicked seal, however I thought that might cause the groups to be vertical . My groups are : two maybe three shots close and then one a distance away, like an inch or two or more and this is in the 30 ft. basement ! I initially thought I was pulling the shots but it happens to cyclically for me to be doing it. I have a shot string from 2 weeks ago: 709.1, 723.0, 722.6, 712.1, 715.2, 714.2, 720.8, Error, 722.1, 711.5, 717.2. I should have an opportunity to shoot outdoors today and will save a group to post. Everything can be fixed its just a matter of time and money, maybe sanity too ! I love a sleeper but at some point you have to determine when to stop. I am looking for or at that point.

try as many different pellets in it as you can. maybe she just doesn't like what your feeding her!

What grizzly said....I forgot about that. Try JSB, Beeman, H&N....use the dome ones....they usually fly the straightest.

Your chrony numbers look consistent, the seal is probably fine. The way you described your shot groups sounds just like the way my Titan shot when it was new, it took at least 500 shots before it finally tightened up but you're even beyond that.

And my Titan still shoots way more flyers than any of my othe guns, I read on here somewhere that Crosman used a bad batch of barrels, I wonder if that's the problem?

I have had a Venom .22 for several months and am extremely pleased with it. It does everything that I expect of it and more. Maybe you just got a bad one. Make sure that all the stock screws are tight and if that is not the problem, after all the suggestions you have had and tried, call Crosman and talk it over with them. They are always very helpful and may even trade yours for a new rifle.

Shot some groups today and they are horrible. I did not have any CP's left so it was CPHP's and Crow Magnums. The distance was 22 yards. The crow mags were hitting the ground before the target ( I was aiming at the aim point towards the bottom of the target ) So what were grouped were the CPHP's . The last group of ten had some that were in a touching pattern unfortunately they were formed during the string and not consecutively. I would post a picture but I got an error that my file was to big and don't know how to shrink it. Never the less I could have shot better with a sling shot !

My .22 Venom grouped tight until it after 750 shots. I loved that gun...fit me so well. too bad theres a weak link

is there any way a person can weld a brace on it and fix it the arm that bends under them and how are they any difrent from the trail arms

Also, I took a close look at the breech and it looks like the bore is not centered in the middle of the breech seal.
I don't think I can get a picture of it but I measured the distance from the edge of the bore to the edge of the inner circumference of the breech seal bore and found about 10 thousandths difference between one side and the
opposite side. Can that cause my poor groups ? Is this variance acceptable ?

I love Chinese springers, but from what I've heard, they're a hit and miss type of thing. Even with German made springers. Craftsmanship now a days isn't what it used to be. Plastic, plastic, metal, plastic, plastic, plastic...

Well, those are not groups as you are aware! In this case, since you have shot springers for years and know what to do and what to expect, I'd say this one is to be sent back to Crosman for repair/replacement. The off centre bore is not likely the cause of the random POI, but could indicate sloppy manufacturing and/or QC on this individual. I wouldn't waste any more effort on it - contact Crosman, point out all the problems including off centre bore, and I expect they will authorize a return (and replacement).

Those "Groups" look like a shotgun blast. Sorry you're having problems with the Venom. Maybe an exchange should be the way to go.

ya man thats a bummer I have had one that I had to send back and get replaced. I'd cock it and chuncks of the stock would fly out. seemed I ha bent the cocking arm somehow and messed it all up. I got a new one in .22 as the previous was .177 and so far so good maybe 500 shots. they seem to be really nice guns, but have their fair share of issues hopefully Crosman takes care of it.
