I did some tunting on the Hatsan Flashwood .22

I picked up a .22 Flashwood off of Hatsan USA's Refurb Deals.
It came out of the box screaming hot!
18.1gr shooting 980 fps.
15.89gr shooting 1055 fps.
Too hot! I was only getting a couple of mags on a fill.
I set up the chronograph and removed the action from the stock.
I remembered a video that I watched a while back from Ken on his Airguns and Pesting YouTube channel.
He had a .22 Vectis that he was tuning for his pesting work. He had the same problem. Too much power and low shot count.
He took his took the hammer spring out, and, come to find out, Hatsan puts extra bushings around the hammer spring to jack up the preload.
Some people said their Vectis/ Flash/ or Flashpup (They are basically all the same platform.) had 1, 2, sometimes 3 of these bushings around the hammer spring.
I took my Flash Wood apart, and it had 1. I removed it and put it back together.
Then I proceeded to adjust the hammer spring with 18.13 pellets. Starting at around 860 fps I was getting around 3 mags on a fill.
That's an improvement, but I wanted to get more shot count. So, I switched to the 15.89 JSB Hades.
I turned the hammer spring down even more. I started at 840 fps. It climbed to 935 fps and by the end of mag #4 (48 shots) it was down to 835 fps.
I can live with that!
I hope to get out next weekend to check the accuracy. I'm sure I will still have tune on it some, but so far I'm happy with the results.

I bought one of the synthetic Flash QE's a couple of months ago on a refurb sell.  It's shooting 14.3gr CPHP's averaging 970fps, so it's pretty sporty.  I've shot 6 different 14-18gr pellets through it for accuracy and haven't found anything it likes yet.  I read accounts of great accuracy from the Flash on here, but I've yet to find mine's "Magic Pellet".

Make sure the shroud nut is snugged up well.

Just got a syn flash on the refurbished deals, same thing 1066 fps with 15.89 jsb. The refurb card that came with it says its doing 950fps? They must have ran some heavy pellets. But it got two mags from 3k to 2.5k.

Mine is a synthetic flashpup in .25 and it starts out around 750, peaks around 790 and drops back to 750 at shot 40 with AA 25.4s. Maybe they set them all up the same no matter the caliber?

Not sure, my .25 flash was running 100fps faster than yours with 25 jsb

I guess it's just luck of the draw then. I haven't touched any adjustments on mine other than the trigger because I was happy with the power and shot count. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised based on stories I've heard from other Hatsan pcp owners.

seems like luck of the draw it is lol. I'm gonnacheck to see if mine has any of those washers I can take out, 1066fps is a touch hot for squirrels I think lol

I've had my Flash 25 for several years. They can use a little work. . Made  a peak valve, ported to .187, touched up the crown, shimmed the barrel with .0015 shim stock, added a couple additional barrel retention grub screws. Made a ssg. Shoots 3 mags of 25.39, 870 to 900, all shots touching at 50 yds. It's my home go to garage gun. I've had to replicate it for a couple friends they liked it so much. It's an inexpensive gun so  I can shoot off of any surface with no worries about scratches or dings. It has never leaked one psi.
    I couldn't pass up the $135.00 delivered refurb in .22 and it just arrived. Must have been a leaker as it appears brand new. Once it's dialed in, it'll be my friends and family gun.

The value definitely leaves room for tinkering. Thankfully mine didn't need much at all. Accuracy is great even if power is a little low, so I'm calling it good enough.

I took the .22 Flash Wood out last weekend.
It shot beautiful!
It pretty much one holed the 15.89gr JSB Hades at 35 yards. I can live with that!
My Buddy recently picked up a refurb .22 Flashpup Wood off from Hatsan USA.
I tuned it for him. It likes the JTS 18.1gr pellets at 880 fps. It is shooting on par with my Flash Wood .22
You've got to love those refurb deals!
I'm going to take the Flash Wood .22 with me in a couple of weeks when I go over to Arizona for the Quail Opener in case I see any rabbits.
