Globe Sight for Diana M48?

Are there any currently available target globe iron sight options available for the Diana Model 48? The rear sight is fine, but that blocky front leaves much to be desired if precision free hand shooting is the goal. I know that the BAM B21 clone came standard with a globe sight that slide up the existing ramp base, however it appears that Diana never offered a similar option. I've seen references in an old PA article to a modified sight base that allowed mounting of a standard Diana globe, but it seems these were never widely available.

Does anyone know if such a sight exists for the venerable 48?

The standard sidelever Diana front sight blade is wide enough to completely block a jackrabbit sitting at 40 yards. It could be used for digging trenches, though.

From my research, it seems globe sights fitting the sidelever line were last available around 2010. I had no luck finding one.

My CCA D54 has a standard, level front sight dovetail and a standard globe sight on it. Boy am I glad to have that.

For my D52 Luxus I'm going to thin the factory blade, with some judicious Dremeling and filing.

Had a model 48 in .22 a while back. Thought the Williams peep would work well. Yes the front sight is too wide. I never thought to thin it down.
A muzzle brake with sight grooves for a globe sight might be an option. Good luck with your search. Dave

That flat muzzle piece was a special order item.



For a while it was offered, but there were very few takers, so it was discontinued.

If people are handy with a file, the metal blade can be removed and a dovetail filed in, you can then install almost any aftermarket sight you want. globes included and the Lyman 17 is a particularly good option...

OR, you can thin both sides and make it either into a barleyorn, or a partridge type sight. There is enough metal to do a good job of creating a bead also, or a pyramyd. It all depends what you want.
