Daisy 853

I was on the patio shooting my 853 MC and all of a sudden, the bolt won't close.   Any ideas?

Thank you. In this case, MC refers to Monte Carlo stock.  The bolt closed after a bit but then she lost all power and the pellets couldn't make it to the 10M target.  I have all of the upgrade parts but there are too many little parts for me to work on.

I got my 853 back from Ronno6 Friday night and she's working like a charm.  He fixed her up in a very timely and reasonable manner.  Other things have kept me from shooting but now, I'm out on the patio with 10 M targets and she'll put one pellet after another in virtually the same hole. I think she prefers the 7.4 gr.  AA over the JSB?

I have sometimes found it to be un-rewarding when you do not see a new hole in the target every time you fire a pellet.......NAH !

Good question!  I tried with my aperture sighted HW30S using the 7.4 gr. AA pellets and the best I could do was a 1/2!" group.  I think my eyes and limbs are getting tired; however, the 30S was much easier to cock and load.

I read all the Daisy 853 discussions with some interest.   I had a CMP sourced Daisy 853 for a while but sold it.   The trigger on mine was really bad and just to be fair, I didn't ever get around to improving it even though I understood improvements could be made fairly easily.   I also found the accuracy to be OK at best.   I did not experiment with different pellets as much as I probably should have but I figured I was only shooting it offhand so a slight loss in pellet accuracy was acceptable.   The materials and finishes did not make me smile the way the German guns do but the CMP price was about $110.00 so it was a tremendous value.   I actually think I got somewhat of a lemon but it's a roll of the dice with CMP 853s.   Would I buy another one?   If I got to test is first and found it to be significantly better than the one I sold, I'm pretty sure I would buy it.

Sorry to read that.  Both of my 853's had nary a mark on them and both are 10 M one holers.  In fact, I picked up my Monte Carlo 853 in Anniston and I don't think it had ever been issued. Ronno6 helped turn it into a 753.

My 753 is a sweet shooter. It’s beat up, but that Walther barrel is sooo accurate.

I worked over the trigger which helped, but need to have another go at it. I got rid of the triple creep, now I need to make it lighter.

With the trigger work I did, I can now outshoot my HW30 off hand 10m. But not by much.

My Monte Carlo 853 has 753 sights and the stock has been extended to 13.5" LOP.  She'll put ten 7.33 AA's into a dime size hole at 10 M, time after time.  When we can see 'em, she'll take the 25 yard spoons for a spin.

I really like this rifle and wish she wasn't so hard to cock.
