DIY Pellet Mold Idea

 I just saw this idea referenced over in a BB gun discussion, thought I would follow up here, seems doable I will have to tinker with this concept, maybe a mini swage .20 cal .177

James, where would a person find lead for this kind of pellet maker? I've heard of lead in coils??? This is crude, but if the shtf this would be better than nothing. I've thought many times about trying to design something like this on a bit larger scale by using a hydraulic jack. This gets my wheels turning

If you want access to a hydraulic jack one could make a wire extruder.  Saw one online.  Guy made a large cylinder and piston, loaded it up with lead and squeezed out lead wire through an orifice , in other words, a die.  He used the wire, cut it to length and made a separate setup to form pellets.  Was a clever design as I recall.

Cool idea.  Wish the guy didn't video it with the window behind it.  At times the video was very black because of it.  Later, he focused on the lower part, and you could actually see what was going on.  The cylinder was smaller diameter than what I have seen previously, which would make it less costly to fabricate.

At least for me, the hard part would be to make the cherry - the bit that cuts the mold block cavity.  Don't have experience making something like that.  Would be cool to try.

A Harbor Freight arbor press would probably do the job.
