I ended up getting the Varmint in .25 but the barrel was pitted and rusty.

Sorry to hear that.  Did the barrel look like it had been cleaned by a "previous owner", then possibly rusted?  I'm assuming it was the inside of the barrel.  Hopefully they didn't ship you a gun with a barrel rusted on the exterior.  Back to my post the other day about never seeing AEA refurbs for sale.

All interior rust and pitting. I pulled a patch and it was rusty so I pulled a few more to see if it would  go away but many patches later, there was still red.

I pulled the barrel and you can see the pitting all along the left side where the bottom of the barrel was when on the boat from jyna.

Pushed a few slugs thru and the barrel was tight/loose/tight/loose/tight. Slug came out .250" but the breach will take a .254" without resistance.
